Coral and Aqua Repurposed Nursery

Description

This coral and aqua nursery was so much fun to put together. The only things that were purchased new in the room were the crib and the glider. Everything was either repurposed or handmade. The bedding, baby mobile, pillows, pennant flags, and blanket ladder were all made by my husband and me. All the shelves, picture frames, elephant, giraffes, mirror, toy chest, and changing table were repurposed. A little TLC and some paint goes a long way. We either had them laying around the house, got them at thrift stores, or bought them ridiculously cheap on sale.

Design Inspiration

I used Pinterest for a lot of my inspiration. I wanted something light, bright, beautiful, and really girly.

Decorating Style

I love old pieces that are given a contemporary feel. Who says old can't be new?!

Project Details

Dresser: Thrift Store

Bedding: Handmade by Me

Chalkboard: Repurposed Silver Platter

Ladder: Handmade by the Hubby

Favorite Items

My favorite item would either have to be the repurposed changing table or the baby mobile. The dresser was a thrift store find that my husband and I painted and added new hardware to in order to make it the changing table. It was the first thing in her nursery before we even knew she was a girl. The baby mobile was the first thing I made as soon as I found out she was a girl. I love it, and so does Zoey.

Advice

Don't feel like everything has to be brand new! I reused probably 2/3 of the decorations in this room. Paint and a little work goes a long way!

Where did you find that hanger for the mobile? I have been looking for something like that instead of attaching it to the crib. What would you call it?

  2. avatar Andrea says:

Hi how did you make the little pom pom puffs on the mobile?

  3. avatar Fawn says:

I would love to purchase your homemade mobile. Just like other comments I couldn’t find your etsy shop. Please let me know if you still make mobiles!

Do you still make and sell the mobile itself or do you have a tutorial?

  5. avatar Jill says:

Wondering if you can make more of those hangers for the mobile and how much they are. I saw in a previous comment you sold them on your easy shop but I am not seeing them there now. Please let me know. Thank you!

Thank you for your concern, but she’s never even slept in her crib. We have a co-sleeper. I am very aware of the dangers of bumper pads that’s why she doesn’t have them. The pillows are for decoration and obviously would be taken out for sleeping.

  19. avatar Nan says:

I love the way you have decorated her room, but please tell me you remove the pillows in the crib before you put her down to sleep! I can’t tell by the photo, but if you have bumper pads, the American Academy of Pediatrics does not recommend using bumpers – especially pillow-like bumpers.

Can you share what the paint color is in this room?
