Logan’s Wild One Birthday

My son, Logan, recently turned one on February 13th, 2020! He is my first child and I am a wedding planner so I just HAD to go all out! Due to the pandemic, weddings aren’t exactly happening as planned here in Minnesota this past year. Therefore I needed a way to express my creativity and what better way to do it than plan and design my son’s first birthday.
The theme was “Wild One” and had a jungle safari vibe. A local balloon company, The Balloon Engineer, did an amazing balloon installation in my home which served as the backdrop for the photo shoot. I hired a photographer, Natalie of Bauer Creative, to take photos day-of. Custom cookies were provided by Linda Bakes and a smash cake and cupcakes were provided by Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe. Everything came together perfectly and exactly how I had envisioned it.
Happy Birthday, Logan!

Boho Girl Nursery

I was first inspired when I saw the Sandie Mural wallpaper from Anewall. It looked like sort of an abstract sunset to me and I love the muted blush, peach and yellow tones. My mom (who passed away when I was young) loved sunsets and they’ve always reminded me of her and made me feel close to her, so that felt right too. I also wanted to sprinkle in some rainbows since our sweet girl is our triple rainbow baby, and I thought that would go well with this vibe. I then got a crazy idea to put the wallpaper on the ceiling instead of on a wall. I fell in love with the Fela Tassel Chandelier from Anthropologie to pull in the boho vibes and the rest of the nursery centered around the ceiling as the focal point. I already had the blush pink dresser that I refinished a few years ago (painted Sherwin Williams White Dogwood) so I decided to paint the wall opposite the dresser (that the Jenny Lind crib would be on) that same blush pink. I already had the grey rocker (Amazon) from my first baby as well. I then pulled in more boho vibes with accent pieces – dried floral wreaths from @modsugardesign on Etsy, mirror from Anthropologie, curtains from Nordstrom, rug from Rugs.com and bookshelves from Amazon. The beautiful clay wall hanging was handmade by my friend @century_clay and was the first item I got for my baby girl.
Installing the peel and stick wallpaper on the ceiling was a little tricker than putting it on a wall, because gravity is working against you instead of with you. You definitely need a second person to help hold it as you put it up. It took my husband and I about 3 hours when I was 2 weeks postpartum, so it’s still not a huge project. I have done several installations of this wallpaper on walls previously though.
Tips for decorating on a budget: I purchased the Anthropologie items during 30-40% off sales. I got the crib and dresser second-hand, and purchased more affordable accent pieces. I generally choose 1 or 2 focal items (in this case the wallpaper on the ceiling and the chandelier) that I splurge a little on and then save on the other supporting pieces.
I’m so in love with how the nursery turned out! I love staring up at the ceiling as I’m sitting in the rocker feeding her. It brings a smile to my face every time I’m in there, and I hope it will for my daughter as well.

A Vintage Little Girl’s Room with Touches of Modern

The inspiration behind the design of this room is a vintage feminine look with touches of modern!

Many of the pieces in Ella’s room are vintage, but we love mixing in modern and versatile pieces such as this adorable queen bedframe that she will be using for many years to come. These gorgeous blush pink pillows  added lots of texture and were the perfect feminine addition to the room.

The vintage dresser in her room is another favourite piece that was refurbished and given a new life! These whimsical handmade garlands gave this corner of the room the perfect magical touch. They were also used as a decoration piece for Ella’s birthday party.

Ella was also asking for a fun change so we went from polka dot walls to these really cute rainbow wall decals. They’re really the sweetest looking wall decals. With lots of bright fun colours and eucalyptus leaves in the rainbows giving a subtle touch.

Neutral Boho Coastal Nursery

We chose a coastal inspired nursery for my son because of my upbringing in Coastal New England and because we are fortunate enough to live only 1800 steps from the beach. I have always found solace in the sound of the waves crashing and truly appreciated growing up in an area that brought me such peace.
My first job was at Woodman’s of Essex which is famous for their seafood, and is a New England staple. My entire family worked at this establishment as well and we would each say it was of our favorite place to work. We really looked forward to the clam bakes, the local travel and everything that goes along with the lifestyle of living by the beach. We adore this community and hope our son grows up with as much love for it as we have!
My advice to any current or expecting parents is to create something that truly resonates with you and will be meaningful for years to come. I chose neutral tones for the nursery with the consideration that we could one day have a girl who may share the space. I also wanted this room to embody the quaint and charming characteristics of New England that can be appreciated by a boy or a girl, and can be a fun place for them to create memories as they grow up.

Vintage Floral Big Girl Room

When planning to transition our daughter to a big girl bed, I decided to give her room a refresh. I wanted to create a soft, mostly neutral space with a floral and vintage-inspired elements that she could enjoy for years to come. I began by painting the walls a warm white, and then installed peel and stick botanical wallpaper (custom colors: white and mist) for an accent wall behind the bed. For the bedding, I started with a cozy white duvet and layered feminine pillows and a blush throw. I love affordable toy storage options, so I used a white cube organizer with fabric bins, and dressed it up with a round rattan mirror, brass lamp, and greenery. A blush rug pulls it all together. One of my favorite things about this space is the clean and minimal look! My advice is to keep things simple, focus on elements that you love, and include storage that is both functional and pretty. Boho Neutral Nursery

We didn’t know the sex of our baby while I was pregnant, so we wanted a very neutral and relaxing space. I had an overall vision for what I wanted, but slowly picked out pieces at a time to slowly put it all together. Sometimes it’s worth waiting for the “perfect” piece! We also decided to have an accent wall behind the crib. We took on this very easy DIY by purchasing some wood moulding from Home Depot and some paint. Prior to putting it together we used painters tape to see what size we wanted the rectangle frames to be and how it would look in the room.

Minimalist Green and Blush Desert Nursery

My wife and I were engaged at Joshua Tree National Park under the stars so we have a soft spot for the desert. We knew we wanted to bring this feeling of happy into the room. We wanted the room to also feel calm, peaceful, and decluttered, only requiring the necessary furniture. We chose wood tones to make the space feel warm and painted a darker accent wall to make the white crib pop while keeping the other walls light and airy to make the room feel bigger. We wanted to incorporate some Montessori themes in the room by adding a pull-up bar with the mirror and special mobile. We hope this room can grow with our daughter as she does (but not too fast!).

Star-studded Boys Nursery

The vision I had for Mack’s room was a cool/fun vibe with a bold statement & something that he can grow into over the years. I adore all things black & white, so I knew I wanted to incorporate B&W into the color scheme. The dark green color was added to make the room have a little more casual feeling, yet still bold. The star decals were an amazing find that ended up being cheaper + easier than wallpaper & adds such a fun vibe! Artwork is always a unique + personal touch that adds so much to a room, so I reached out to a talented artist to design the portraits of our little guy + pup. My biggest tip is to not stress over placing the decals perfectly, because the human eye will never be able to see small mistakes.

Lennon’s Oasis

Pregnancy was very tough for me and this project gave me so much peace to complete. I wanted a space that felt calming and feminine without using to many traditional colors. I have love for vintage, so I spent many days roaming vintage thrift shops to find small touches to add to the room. The shoes on the shelf are my husbands from when he was a baby! I hope you love Lennon’s little oasis as much as I do.

Palmer’s Nursery

We were chosen to be featured on a new tv show documenting the process of buying our new home while showing a before and after. If you didn’t know, we moved all the way from San Diego to Virginia Beach in June. I teamed up with multiple companies for this huge design project which took place in only TWO MONTHS. So long story short, we put our entire house together in only two short months which included the nursery of my absolute DREAMS.
One of the incredible companies I knew I wanted featured in our home immediately was Livette’s wallpaper. Each and every customizable design is absolutely gorgeous! I’m serious when I say the quality of their paper is incredible. It came in the most beautiful packaging and I was instantly surprised at the thickness of the wallpaper.
I had heard horror stories of wallpapering, but it was honestly a breeze because of the stretchable material and the fact that it’s removable. It’s basically like one big sticker which makes the entire process so much easier. The hardest part was lining the tops to our ceilings because the walls somehow come in at an angle! But once my husband and I made it halfway through we were able to finish up the rest really quickly. I was so relieved because we were running out of time and really had no room for mistakes (again, only two months to complete pretty much every room from scratch).
I was stunned at what a difference this simple Beige Brush Stroke design gave to the room and the final result really wouldn’t be the same without it. I love walking into the nursery and immediately feeling a sense of calm. I’m curious to know if you can feel how serene this room is through the images!

Grey and Blue Nursery Inspo with a Story Time Theme

We are so excited to share this stunning gray and blue nursery sent to us by Alex May of Washington, DC.

“We are so incredibly happy with your product! It couldn’t be more perfect for the room.  The grey crib bedding provided the perfect compliment to our decor.” Alex May

The theme Alex chose for the nursery is “New Orleans Story Time”. She wanted the nursery to feel sophisticated, yet playful. The nursery features muted tones of gray, shades of blue and gold, with bright walls, cream-colored furniture and windows to let plenty of light in.

Alex combined our Washed Linen in Gray Crib Bedding collection with classic white nursery furniture and blue nursery decor to create the perfect blend of style and comfort.

Stylish, ageless furniture is always a good investment.  Alex’s choice of white nursery furniture is both classic and elegant.

Light wood floors give the room a more spacious, airy look and a a bright, natural and modern feel.  The view from the room looks breathtaking!

A focal point of the room is an enchanting custom painted mural on the wall, by Heather Ginger Cooper, featuring different story time characters throughout.  If you look closely, you will see the Lady in the Shoe, Humpty Dumpty, Mother Goose and more!  The whimsical artwork perks up the wall and adds a personal touch the the nursery!  Such a playful addition to this baby’s room.
Easily elevate your nursery with linen crib bedding.  Our gray crib collection is made of eco-friendly lux European linen and lends a tailored, timeless appeal.  Alex chose our Washed Linen in Gray Crib Rail Cover and Pleated Crib Skirt.  Create a relaxed look with washed linen.
The gray linen crib rail guard is completed by adding a personalized monogram in our popular fishtail font in Ivory thread.

White floating shelves from Amazon add style, and hold books in easy reach from the traditional styled nursery rocker.  The crown wall artwork is from The Baby’s Room in New Orleans and the changing table tray is from Baby Cache.  You can easily transform your dresser to a changing station with a changing table tray.

Thank you Alex May Sealy for sharing this gorgeous nursery with us!
So many things to love, but the custom wall mural is our favorite!

Baby Girl’s Tropical Boho Nursery

As soon as I found out that we were having a girl I knew I wanted to design a nursery that was feminine yet incorporated natural elements and had a tropical feel. My love of tropical plants inspired the Monstera wall mural which set the theme for the room and I choose whites, neutrals, and blush pinks for the remainder of the decor to keep things bright and clean looking.
I gathered inspiration for the design and decor from both Pinterest and the Project Nursery instagram page and had so much fun bringing my vision to life. I can’t wait to spend time bonding with our new baby girl in this space!
