Paris Princess Soiree

For this party we wanted the dessert table to be reminiscent of a bakery in Paris. We choose macaroons of course! as well as a cake in the shape of the Eiffel Tower, decadent cupcakes, and yummy macaroons. We even dressed the birthday girl in a darling tiered tutu dress topped with a ornate custom head piece. A ornate frame held a custom sign made for the birthday girl and was center stage for her beautiful dessert table.

Vintage Robot Party

All little boys love robots and I tried to create this one with a modern twist to a classic theme. We added vintage antique robots collected by Logan’s dad to the dessert table and had food to resemble “robot” parts. Red licorice wheels, gumballs, cosmic cookies and more for all to enjoy! Logan’s favorite food is french fries, so I created custom french frie cones to match the table fabric. We  created arts and crafts projects using robot cut outs. The kids had fun gluing and glittering them and then we hing them up to create a “home made” banner for all to enjoy. Fun “global” blow up balls were a fun toy for all the kids to play with and then take home as one of the favors.

Ladybug 1st Birthday

From the time Grace was born I began planning her first birthday party, call it a sickness, I call it passion and a slight obsession. As I began to brainstorm ideas, I fell in love with a ladybug themed party; I mean how are those little red, black-spotted bugs not adorable? With the theme set, I was now on the hunt for the perfect location and couldn’t think of a better place than a local park. If you know Grace, there is nothing this little girl loves more than the park. Theme…check. Location…check. Now it was time to focus on all of the fun ladybug details, my favorite part of planning this party. The color scheme for the party was red, black, and a touch of lime green. For the tables, I alternated between two different ladybug designs. Half of the tables were covered with black table clothes and accented with a ladybug balloon centerpiece; while the other half were covered in red table clothes with black polka dots to resemble a ladybug. The dessert table displayed handmade ladybug party hats, lime green wrapped boxes which served as a display to our red and black polka dotted ladybug cupcakes, and Grace’s personal ladybug smash cake. The “Big Bugs” were given a treatbag full of candy while the “Little Bugs” were given a treatbag full of ladybug crayons and a ladybug mini coloring book. Both were adorned with a personalized thank you tag that matched the invitations. Aside from the park, there was a ladybug pinata and since it was the middle of August, a refreshing water balloon fight :) Last but not least, Gracie Bug’s party outfit was a red tutu covered in black polka dots with a personalized onesie and matching ladybug hair clip, all found on Etsy. I had so much fun planning this party and despite the heat, it was a fantastic party!

Papa G’s Pizzeria: Moustaches & Mozzarella

Every year I get so excited to style for my son, Greyson, and this year for this 6th birthday it was quite the fete. He had several requests this year and I really wanted to incorporate all of them. Moustaches. Restaurants with Cooking. Dress Up. I thought long and hard about creative ways to include all of these requests. Then one day while visiting Kindergarten on Pizza Day – it all came to me. {Papa G’s Pizzeria: Moustaches & Mozzarella}. I would create a restaurant just for him. After that was decided, I contacted my fabulous friend Paula of Frog Prince Paperie to turn my son into an Italian Chef cartoon. She did an amazing job! For the printable collection, I wanted to use red and white checkered patterns with the traditional Italian colors. When searching for new, creative twists on parties – patterns are a wonderful way to achieve that goal.

Finding Neverland Party

For my daughter’s fourth birthday, we chose a Neverland premise, which would appeal to all the guests – male or female… young or old!

The Peter Pan story provided many ideas and I drew inspiration from one of my favorite movies: ‘Finding Neverland‘. The movie follows Peter Pan’s author, J.M. Barrie, as events in his life in the Victorian era motivate him to write the enchanting play.

From there, I concentrated on the overall Victorian feel with ornate, black décor in the Darling children’s nursery, contrasted with nature and trees at the party’s location to represent their journey to Neverland. I also utilized numerous silhouettes, corresponding to this time period, and also representing Peter Pan’s search for his shadow. I wanted the children to feel as if they were being transported to this magical land and encourage them to believe… From table “beds” to toys and frames, I tried to capture the Darling nursery in an outside setting.

To aid the children in imagining and navigating through Neverland, I hired Ms. Louisa from Fairytales & Tutus ballet studio my daughter attends to read Peter Pan and transport the kids from the nursery into Neverland. I had fairy wings and tutus available for the girls, as well as pirate gear (scarves, eye patches, hooks and inflatable swords) in treasure chests. Ms. Louisa also brought additional costumes, such as mermaids, Indians, and the lost boys, just to name a few! The children were free to choose their outfits, which was so fun and added to the imagination-play, as my daughter had three costume changes throughout the party!

I filled little jars with pixie dust and made little wooden compasses for all the children. After hearing the story, they learned to fly by sprinkling the magical dust and jumping on a trampoline! Ms. Louisa then led them through activities from sinking pirate ships with cannonballs at Skull Rock, jumping over the crocodile, swimming through the Mermaid Lagoon with bubbles and a pow wow at the Indian Camp. Ms. Louisa’s presence at the party was invaluable, as it allowed the kids to play all together and utilize their imagination, while the parents watched and enjoyed without worry.

Another hit with the kids was a table I set up at the Mermaid Lagoon with plastic bubble bottles they could fill up with colored sand.

The photo booth props were stored in a mini toy box and painted, along with another frame and a sign to be held up reading ‘believe’.

Lastly, the favors were stored in oversized wooden blocks and the guests were sent home with shadow puppets, cut and glued on wooden sticks, along with a flashlight and a Peter Pan book to read the story over and over again. And, since it was such an inspiration and a movie that makes me cry every single time I watch it, each family received a ‘Finding Neverland’ DVD with the final quote from the movie: ‘Just Believe‘.

Yo Ho Ho a Pirate Party for Me!

My son is way into pirate’s right now, so I found it only fitting to throw him a pirate themed birthday party. Since his birthday is in June, we’re lucky enough to have the entire party outside. I used some inspiration from various pirate parties I had seen online and embelished on them. All the signs, maps, booty bags, favors the bar, and the ship were all handmade. My husband is handy with the tools, so he’s nice enough to create what I think up-lol.

Malu’s Sunny B-Day!

For my baby girl’s second birthday I’ve decided to create a party inspired by the sun, since she loves sunny days and always asks me to draw the sun and put a smile on it. It was the first time in my life I’ve done all the party decoration by myself. I had tones of fun doing it and I’ve worked a lot to get it all done before my due date (my baby boy was born just 13 days before the party).
