Oh Joy Inspired Nursery

My oldest daughter’s room is very neutral, with lots of white, beige and gold accents (photos below) – colors I naturally gravitate toward when decorating. When deciding on a theme and color scheme for our second daughter’s nursery, I knew a few things – I wanted to do something bright, in contrast of Isla’s neutral space, and I did not want to have a typical nursery nursery. I was wandering through Target a few months ago and I saw a brightly color Oh Joy pillow and knew immediately I’d found the inspiration for the room. I loved the pairing of the bright yellow, turquoise, blush pink and neon coral and thought I could have some fun designing a room around those colors.

Creative Baby Sprinkle

One of my very best friends, Destiny, is expecting a baby girl early in 2017 (12 days after I’m due!), so I wanted to throw her a sprinkle (a shower when a mom is having a child of a different gender). I decided to host it at a cute creperie in Houston called Sweet Paris, and the venue was perfect (especially given the dreary, rainy weather outside!).
There were sprinkled cups, sprinkle balloons, an invitation with sprinkles inside, a sprinkle cake, and a sprinkled balloon backdrop. We decorated cupcakes, predicted the baby’s birth date, watched eagerly as Destiny opened one cute gift after another, sang Happy Birthday (Destiny’s birthday was just two days before), and had great conversation.
I have more details on my blog here (including sources for all items in the shower).

Isla’s Tea for Two Birthday Party

My daughter, Isla, recently turned two, and to celebrate, we threw her a tea party (‘Tea for Two’). I was inspired by a fun floral wall I saw at the Australian Open, and my amazing friend, Meredith (who owns Cake & Confetti) brought my vision to life!
Isla loves tea parties and throws them in her playroom all of the time, and so I thought it was appropriate for her to have a bigger party to celebrate turning two. Despite the downpour outside on the day of the party, everything went smoothly!
I had the entire party setup the night before except for food, which made the morning of (slightly) less stressful. I advice recruiting help from friends and family!
