Planets and Picture Books Nursery

I’m a museum educator who uses children’s books to teach with weekly in the art museum. So when it came time to decorate my own child’s nursery, I couldn’t resist putting a few of my favorites on the walls. My husband, an engineer (we’re the perfect art and science mix), chose a solar system mobile. We had fun tying the rest of the room together with minty walls and pops of gray, white, and gold. Now we’re just waiting on this bump to fully bake for the room to be complete.

Mary Poppins Nursery

A simple, bright, & ladylike room for a past client ( Library Nursery ) who was drawn to daring red accents and a love for a very special nanny. This classic design was centered around an out-of-the ordinary color palette of gutsy red, rose quartz, and Chantilly lace. Our client asked us to incorporate subtle elements from her favorite childhood story of Mary Poppins and to reuse and repeat some of the key pieces that were in her son’s nursery. A timeless poppies { pun intended } wallpaper is the focal point while a copper, oversized spoon is hung for the sweetest decor piece. A soft blue uniform fabric dresses the windows, grey and white zig-zags ground the room, and a traditional buffalo check pattern makes an appearance. The tufted ottoman adds softness and an IKEA dresser is revamped using gorgeous scaled knobs in brass. Hints of the vintage story are made throughout from a well-known quote on a decorative pillow to a framed wall art that notes each iconic symbol. An adorable penguin hamper, a woodlands floor lamp, and the flower pot sugar container are just some of our favorite details in this “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” room.

Mila Noelle’s Pink and Gold Nursery

Lark’s Colorful, Bohemian-Modern Nursery

This is the nursery we put together for our daughter, Lark. We reused the crib, dresser, changing table, and rocker that were in our older son’s nursery and changed out all the accessories to create a bright, cheerful, and stimulating space for our baby girl to grow in.

Beach Baby Nursery

I’ve been dreaming of a beach baby nursery since trying to have a baby for 5 years now.  Not knowing the sex of your baby is so fun.  Especially when it tortures your family.  The beach is quite unisex but Max can make his room surf or nautical or pirates whenever he pleases. Until then we will relax in our little tropical paradise.

Madalyn’s Gray and Yellow Elephant Nursery

When we were deciding on how to decorate my daughter’s room, I knew I wanted something relatively gender neutral with just a slight girly flair.  I wanted the space to feel put together, but still have a touch of whimsy.  We were working with limited square footage so everything had to do double duty and be functional, as well as, add to the overall look and feel of the room.

Girly and Floral Big Girl Room

I couldn’t find any bedding that I loved enough for my daughters room. I didn’t want to paint and I wanted to keep her black furniture from her nursery, along with some wall hangings and lamps so I needed to find something that incorporated all those colors. I found one option but it was unavailable so I decided if I can’t find what I want, I’m just going to make it. B had this Matilda Jane Platinum top that I fell in love with and it dawned on me that I should try and use that as inspiration for her room. So using her top inspiration I decorated a floral and girly room for my daughter. I added a lot of little personal touches and ended up doing a lot of DIY projects. Scanning the aisles of Michael’s can sometimes be a dangerous thing ;)

Yellow, White and Gray Striped Accent Wall

Miles Modern Safari Nursery

We wanted a bold and bright modern safari nursery for our son. The stripes were really the jumping off point, and the yellow and grey set the tone for the rest of the items. When we found the rug it really grounded the room and the curtains allow for a lot of natural light during the day. He loves the lights, they give a great glow at night and soothes him while he gets his diaper change.

Edie’s Palm Beach Inspired Nursery

I started the project knowing I wanted to use the black and cream Dalmatian print wallpaper as a backdrop; from there I added coral and gold with green palm accents.  Nurseries are so fun because you can use themes and colors that are completely separate from the rest of your house!
