Poppy’s Modern Leopard Nursery

When I found out I was finally having a girl, I was so excited to design her nursery. I knew that I didn’t want the standard pink nursery so I started looking for other ideas. I am always drawn to neutral colors, and decided leopard would be the perfect mix of girly and modern. I started second guessing myself when I kept buying things that you wouldn’t traditionally buy for a baby girls nursery. However, I am so glad I stuck with my original plan until the end.
The muralist at Sweet Dream Murals was able to bring my vision to life! I kept two of the walls a solid color to maintain a more cohesive look.

When I found out I was having a girl after two little boys, I knew I wanted to fill her nursery with pretty, soft, feminine elements. We chose blush tones as the primary color of the nursery, and accented it with whites, soft greens, and gold fixtures.
The inspiration and color palette centered around the accent wall decals we found at Restoration Hardware Baby & Child. The floral design was exactly what I envisioned for a baby girl’s room. From there, we added personalized touches like my refurbished childhood dollhouse and a framed baby dress that belonged to me. She was born on New Year’s Day 2021, so decorating her room for the holidays in anticipation of her arrival was so much fun!
We love the way it turned out and it is such a special place to watch our daughter grow!

Asher’s Modern Nursery

While I was pregnant I went to project nursery a lot to check for nursery ideas. I wanted a cozy baby nursery for my baby boy but I did not want the traditional baby blue color most moms used for boys nursery. When I went on project nursery Instagram page I saw wall paneling in some nursery photos and I wanted that so badly for Asher’s nursery. Then I saw how people incorporated dark colors in baby boys room and I fell in love with that idea and chose navy blue and my dark hue. I am a gray lover so I added grey to the rest of the walls as my light/neutral color. I built this nursery during the lockdown because I had a pandemic baby so I started with Tatget for my nursery needs since that was one of the few stores opened. Then when Homegoods opened up mama went crazy 😜

Kennedy’s Nursery

This nursery shares a mix of a contemporary wood accent wall with some fun, large print peony wallpaper.
What I love about the wood accent wall is how easy it was to do ourselves – there’s no exactness to it and you can really just start cutting pieces and placing it on the wall.
Some of my recommendations:
1. For the wood accent wall, paint the wall and wood pieces before mounting. It saves so much time to just have to touch up paint after.
2. Peel and stick wallpaper is the best!! It only took about 2 hours to install the peony wall (and it was my first time installing wallpaper)
3. Find a local craftsman that can help you get creative and custom with your space. Our corner shelves were totally custom, but totally reasonable because I found a wood worker just starting to build his business. He did such a great job!

A Simple and Fresh, White Nursery

We wanted to keep the colors of Amelia’s room crisp and clean, not too overwhelming, so that it could evolve with new ideas and decor over time as she grows. The walls are pure white and really brighten up her room when the sun hits the walls. Our favorite piece is her rug and the pop of color it brings to the room. We captured our inspiration from many of the different nurseries that we saw on Project Nursery. My biggest tip is to pick pieces that your baby can grow with and also make sure the room is super cozy!

Modern Moody Dog Themed Nursery

We are an animal loving family so naturally we chose our love of dogs to build our nursery theme. We found this whimsical wallpaper and build a nursery that fit into the rest of the decor in our house as well. We wanted furniture pieces that could grow with our child and a space we all could enjoy. My husband and I built the modern peg board together which can serve as a display for many different things for years to come… and it’s quite secured to the wall :)

Baby Bookworm Nursery

I chose this project because I love the spin from the traditional baby boy nursery.  The  “Baby Bookworm Nursery”  was inspired by my my client’s love for learning and exploring through books, which is a trait they hope pass to their children.  I am always thrilled when the design has sentimental ties.  Nurseries and kids spaces are so much fun because I can really get creative with colors and themes.  Not only do you want the space to be aesthetically pleasing, but it must be functional.  Lighting and storage are BBI’s “Nursery nonnegotiables.”   You must have adequate lighting to be able to thoroughly inspect the skin especially with diaper changes and hygiene.  Storage is a must because we know babies have ton of “stuff.”

Colorful Sunshine Girls Room

I wanted to create something bright and colorful for my daughters room.  I found a mural on Pinterest that inspired me for the rest of the room.  I painted the mural on my daughter’s wall and used the same paint colors in the rest of her room.  I refinished an old bed and found the perfect sunshine yellow dresser at Savers.  My husband created an amazing reading loft for her above her door.  We put a king size mattress up there and it is a hot spot for reading and sleepovers with her friends.  It is hard not to smile when you walk into this room!

Josie’s Sweet Oranges

After having three boys in a row I was finally having a baby girl!  I couldn’t wait to create a beautiful girls nursery for my daughter, Josie.  I like to pick out one thing I love and then design the room around it. Most of the time the item is some type of textile.  I found a fabric with oranges on it that inspired me to create this warm, boho styled room.  I hand painted the oranges on her wall so I could pick the exact paint color I wanted them done in verses using wallpaper.  I also wanted to add some natural elements in her room.   I found a cute and easy DIY bookshelf project off Pinterest and added cane webbing to a natural wood IKEA bookshelf.  I love how much the bookshelves  add to the room.  I also decided to mix in a dusty rose color because I love the color so much.  I double layered her curtains to create more softness in her room.  Every time I walk into her room it makes me happy!

Sensory Interior Design

This project was created for a boy who has special needs. He has ADHD and sensory processing disorder. He wasn’t comfortable in his room. He couldn’t sleep well and was waking up at all hours of the night. We painted the room a soothing cream color, and added a diffuser with calming scents. We changed the lighting, changed the bedding, and added sensory accessories to help this boy fulfill his sensory needs. He now loves room and uses it to soothe himself when he needs it. Oh- and he sleeps a full night!

Truck Themed Boys Room with Pattern Fun

Playful patterns for a playful kiddo!
One of my favorite memories growing up is when my parents would redo my bedroom and they’d let me choose whatever theme I wanted. So this time around we involved our little guy with a few choices for his big boy bedroom and I have to say- it was fun getting a little input from a 3 year old. I think we got everything on his list: trucks ✔️ blue ✔️ red ✔️ (what an easy client!😆)
Our 3 year old is very much a bright, colorful, & playful kind of kid, so I wanted his bedroom to reflect that. Some days he prefers pink (he knows it’s mom’s favorite color) & other days he prefers orange (thanks to Blippi) but usually you can catch him saying blue & red are his favorite colors, so we decided to do blue board+batten on an accent wall, along with accents of red here & there. We used this fun Serena + Lily Feathered wallpaper as a backsplash on the accent wall, with some white framed Etsy truck prints to pop against the wallpaper. The Polymath Mom name sign fits perfectly in the room and will grow with him over time.
My goal was for the room to reflect his personality and involve all things he loves so that he truly enjoys being in his own little space. The room has a fun feeling with details of trucks everywhere, along with a book bench reading corner to accommodate his love for reading.
My advice is to involve your child during the design process if you can! Make a space that they’ll love and will accommodate their wants. Happy designing!

Whimsical Shared Bedroom with Woods and Stars Wallpaper

Designing a shared kid’s room is no easy feat… not only are you creating a space that siblings will literally remember forever, it also requires extra consideration and functionality to suit the needs of two individual sets of interests!
The first step in creating this fun and functional room, was to introduce tons of storage that would work for my mini Clients well into their tweens. We ripped out the room’s old fireplace and installed a full wall of custom cabinetry, with open shelving and drawers along the middle for books, toys, nick nacks and painted masterpieces. We even incorporated hanging space and drawers on either side for each of the kids’ clothes; all behind closed door. I can’t get over how much stuff these built-ins can hold — it’s unreal! I even proposed turning an unused closet into a built-in desk nook, which turned out to be the perfect spot for virtual learning during this years’ pandemic.
We agreed on a fresh blue and pink colour palette and after several rounds of wallpaper sourcing, landed on the whimsical Cole & Son woods and stars wallpaper. The metallic star accents are a thing of beauty and add so much depth to the space. We layered in soft blues and pinks through textiles and a variety of decor pieces; like a robin blue desk chair, pastel toned bunting banner and gorgeous art prints. I really wanted to amp up the texture with items like this stunning Leanne Ford geometric wool rug and 100% Flax linen bedding from Dreams Jumper. I just adore how the colours and patterns work together in a very relaxed and whimsical way; from stars and moons, to rainbows and flowers… it’s now a wondrous room for two very imaginative kiddos!
