Enchanted Garden 1st Birthday

Description

A DIY first birthday party for my sweet baby girl :) We put a lot of time and effort in to planning and executing this party. The decorations and food were done on a budget but the rest was not: We had to build a dividing fence through our yard to keep our three giant dogs on one side. We also bought an outdoor setting, park bench, amazing gazebo and rebuilt our sandpit for the kids to play in. We are so pleased with how the day turned out!!

Design Inspiration

Her Enchanted nursery inspired me to have a garden party with butterflies, flowers, birds and fairies. We shared this special day with around 60 friends and family :)

Decorating Style

Pretty and girly :) Handmade with love!

Project Details

I handmade all 40 invites myself using card-stock, designer paper and Martha Stewart & Christina Re punches.

I hired a helium tank and we filled 100 balloons on the day & curled the ribbon. The balloons were a hit with the kids!

I made paper buntings as decoration for the house and outside, a paper bunting for her high chair and a little bunting cake topper all using matching designer paper.

A friend of mine made me the pom poms.

We purchased loads of flowers from our local florist (4 days before the party so they were blooming beautifully on the day) .

I purchased 12 photo frames (all silver) in different sizes from a cheap shop and framed 12 pictures of my daughter (one for each month she has been alive).

I decorated all around the house and outside with ornaments and statues, butterflies, fairies and birds (I forgot to take photos) and I bought an adorable butterfly in a jar from the National Geographic shop. It really flutters!

A lot of the things on the cake table (stands, wax paper straws, paper cups, milk bottles, turntable) were purchased online from Sweet little birdy -  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sweet-Little-Birdy/130499453643514

The pink table runner and the pink lolly pops were from The Princess and the Pirate https://www.facebook.com/theprincessandthepirate

The fairy bunting (laid on cake table) is from Tara K designs https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tara-K-Designs/100683639978055?ref=ts

The ribbon wand party favours were purchased from Pinwheels and Pearls, these were a huge hit with the girls and boys! And in my opinion better to give a gift than a lolly bag :) https://www.facebook.com/pinwheelsandpearls

Lots of the amazing food was brought by family and friends. Some of it was made by me and my SIL. We had cupcakes, fairy cakes, sponge layer cake, pavlova, cheese cake, candy, chocolates, cookies, macaroons, marshmallows, popcorn, chips, dips, cheese/meat/sushi/fruit platters, quiche and sausage rolls. (Probably more but I am struggling to remember)!

The children were well entertained by the ball pit, sandpit, kick balls, balloons, wands and on the TV we had Tinkerbell playing (to go with the party theme).

The last image is of my precious daughter, I had the nappy cover custom made by Mini Mooches and a stunning headband (not pictured) made by Vintage Sistas, the dress is just from Pumpkin patch.  https://www.facebook.com/Minimoochesxo

Favorite Items

I loved all the fresh flowers around my home, they lasted for weeks! I also loved the things I made (invites, buntings etc) Oh and I adore the photo display I put up! I'm also super happy that my partner made our back yard look amazing and tidy and we have a gorgeous sandpit, new outdoor furniture and a gazebo! I will be utilizing all of this again in a couple of weeks for my birthday! :)

Advice

Give yourself plenty of time to plan and research :) And don't stress if it all doesn't go to plan! We had a few hurdles and a family emergency on the day (all is well now) but I didn't let it get the better of me. I just enjoyed the amazing day we planned for our daughter. I know she won't remember it but she has the photos to look back on and all the beautiful gifts from the people that love her :)

Love this party's details, from the invitations to the flowers, to the outdoor set-up. I agree with you on the party favors. I wouldn't care about candies and lollies, too. I'd rather give the kids something that they really like and something that would last a long time.

Your DIY invitations are pretty. And I have to commend you for the love and care you put into creating everything for the party. And oh, the gazebo is beautiful!!! Such a splurge, I'd say.
