Blue Skies Nursery with Cloud Wallpaper

This nursery was ready for a new cohesive aesthetic, something soft and playful that still felt mature enough for a young child to grow into. So, we chose a bright and crisp palette with pops of soft blues, whites, creams and light wood tones — and now it feels like a breathe of fresh air! As soon as I walked into the room I knew that we needed to accentuate the ten foot slanted wall; this room was just calling for something special! After sourcing multiple wallpaper options, we landed on an ethereal cloud mural complete with soaring birds. It makes the room feel so much bigger and brighter, which proves just how powerful wallpaper can be.
I would have generally been inclined to source a neutral rug to pair with this wall mural, but we went in a different direction and chose a saturated blue vintage printed rug from the Magnolia Home collection. It really grounds the room, works cohesively with the colour story and adds a rich quality to the space. One of my favourite tried and true design tricks is to hang a mirror across an accent wall — how stunning is the reflection of the wallpaper in the round white wooden mirror? It contrasts the whitewashed ash dresser and brings added texture to the space.
I’m a firm believer that specialty toys and accessories are just as important as the larger key elements in a room — from the wooden trucks, to the cute fish cushion, blue table lamp, patterned star cushion and wall banner, your eyes move across every corner so effortlessly. I also love incorporating personal items in all of my room projects, like this stunning Japanese ‘Sumi-e’ ink painting, which was painted by my mini client’s grandmother.
Bringing longevity and function to the room was very important for my clients, so we added a tall cubby bookcase for bins and toy collections, and created a reading nook with book ledges and a large canvas bean bag. Over the years, this corner can be transformed into a homework zone with a desk and chair, and the crib and glider can be swapped out for a twin daybed.
I’m so happy with the end result of this bright and tranquil room; we completely transformed it into a dreamy space… nothing but blue skies here!

Elegant Pink Floral Nursery

I was so excited when my clients shared such a clear picture of what they wanted for their soon-to-be daughter’s nursery. This project all started with a very special request; to design a room that evokes the same feeling as their recent garden-themed wedding! I drew inspiration from floral arches, hanging chandeliers and soft rose accents to create an ethereal concept with elegant touches sprinkled throughout.
We started by sourcing an oversized rose wallpaper as the focal point and added pink accents for a kiss of colour through a patterned blush rug, muslin crib sheet, sheer canopy and two-tiered felt mobile. I’m a big fan of layering neutral and textural pieces into my designs to tone down a room’s colour palette. I truly can’t get over the stunning wood carved rosette crib, arched metallic mirror and white beaded pendant that we selected. And what’s a nursery without function? We added my go to favourite seagrass lided bins and brought in some smaller canvas pom pom bins to hold extra books and baby toys.
I love sourcing unique products from around the world and this dreamy linen floral wall trophy adds just a touch of French flare right when you walk in. To personalize the space even further, we framed my client’s stunning wedding headpiece in a delicate shadow box — what a special way to celebrate this beautiful couple’s love story. The end result is a charming nursery… like their very own secret garden.

Timeless Design Nursery

My inspiration from this nursery came from the fact that I wanted some thing that would be very timeless. I really wanted it to feel like no matter when you walked into this room, it would work for years to come. I focused on having calming colors that coordinate in all areas in all details of the room. With that being said, I really wanted to have artwork that didn’t scream “baby” at you. The art behind the crib actually came from the fact that I really wanted to feel calm and peaceful when I walked into this room since I knew I’d be spending lots of hours in here I also wanted to comfort. I reupholstered an antique rocker and designed it with specific colors in mind. Eleanor almost 2 years later I couldn’t be more thrilled with it

Baby Boy’s Nursery

This is our first nursery that I created. I had a vision in mind of his nursery being a place of calmness. I knew that when baby boy entered this world, it was going to be a long and wild ride — especially in the first few months of his life with very little sleep — therefore, I wanted a place in the house that we could go to, to relax, where I found a peaceful setting to nurse Noah, and bring fond memories to come. I am so pleased with the outcome of this nursery, and it is so loved already!

That’s Amore! 1st Birthday Party

I had to share my son’s 1st birthday theme… since his name is DEAN we felt a Dean Martin inspired birthday party was a must!
We specifically targeted the song ‘That’s Amore’ and went the pizza route with food and some featured decor pieces. It was easy-peasy because we blasted a Dean Martin playlist from Spotify, served New York style pizza (which was delivered), designed Dean’s smash cake to replicate a pizza (Thanks Britt Bakes) had pizzas inspired cookie takeaways with a message saying “Thanks for Bein’ a Pizza Dean’s Year”. We found the cutest gold banner that read “I love you to pizzas” that hung above the makeshift bar in the garage – yes, this was a garage party! The tables were lined with red & white checkered table runners, displaying photo pedestal frame centerpieces from Ikea for like .99/each. We found a wholesale site that sold personal pizza size boxes that we used as risers and centerpieces and now my son uses when creating Playdoh “pizzas”. It was a truly lovely event and outside-the-box theme that everyone loved! Most importantly, it didn’t break the bank.

Soft Safari Baby Blues

Designing our sons nursery originally started with a coastal inspiration. I rushed an placed my order for crib bedding, found the perfect shelves and then we decided to move…. to the country! I really didn’t want to continue with the theme living “out west” but wanted to keep the base items I already had and that’s when I found the most perfect wallpaper foe his nursery! I adore this wallpaper that allowed me to keep the warm, neutral tones and baby blues! I love that it gives me the same feeling our daughters nursery did; it’s not too babyish, room to grow (with them and design projects to come), flows with our house while standing out and just feels calming.
I love wallpaper in babies/kids rooms! It gives you such a great foundation to bring in classic neutral pieces that you can reuse for another baby down the road (his rocker, crib and dresser were all from big sisters nursery!) and it leaves such a fun start to their big kid room!

Blush Sophistication Big Girl Room

Never, EVER, did I think I would paint a room blush pink.  Yet, here we are and…I LOVE it!  Now, let’s get to the back story.
We moved into our beautiful, new (to us) home in March of 2020.  Yes, right at the start of the pandemic.  It was a tough time for our sweet girl, her whole world had been turned upside down in a matter of weeks.  Once we were settled, I knew I wanted to make her room special and something that she would love as she grows up (I’m not crying…).
Her room at the new house has beautiful vaulted ceilings, two bright windows, and ample space to spread out.  She had spent her time distance learning in our dining room this past year, but I was ready to reclaim my space and give her some much needed privacy (cue seven year old attitude).  We were on a pretty tight budget as we are doing other projects around the house.  Thank goodness for Target!  We found the perfect desk, bookcases, and accessories.  Great quality, affordable and so, so cute!
Together, we chose the perfect blush pink, Head Over Heels by Benjamin Moore.  She squealed in delight as I painted all that luscious pinkness on the walls.  I have to be honest, it felt a little pink overload at first.  However, once we put everything back into the room and added those pops of turquoise…wow, I was a little jealous!  I painted the wooden storage bins to match the turquoise in the throw pillow.  They give that perfect pop of color in the book cases while still providing cute storage.
The dollhouse also received a little makeover.  Fresh paint, some new furniture and decor.  It’s a favorite amongst my daughters friends when they come over for a playdate.  And, let’s be honest, me too.
What I love about paint is how it transforms a space for not a lot of money.  It really allows you to be creative and bold.  My daughter and I had a great time creating her new space together and I know it’s something we will love for years to come.
