Classic and Soft Nursery

Description

This is a nursery for our first child, baby boy, Connor James. We wanted it to be classic and soft for a baby and not too cutesy/animated. I was also mindful of purchasing items that could be reused in other areas of the house when we changed his room into a big boy room.

Design Inspiration

We decided to iincorporate the current room color into the Nursery design since we really didn't want to paint - then have to paint again in a couple years. I wanted to soften the olive green with baby blues & yellows, something serene and cozy. My hubby painted stripes on a wall to add a childlike element. The Project Nursery gallery was a big part of my inspiration for ideas/tips/resources.

Decorating Style

I suppose my decorating style is eclectic. I tend to like too many styles to limit myself to one concept or idea. I enjoy combining a variety of elements to make a style "my own". I love taking a piece from an unexpected and source making it blend in. I am also a bargain hunter so it thrills me to no end to get the perfect piece at a fraction of retail! One of my weakness' is purchasing and returning A LOT of items before I settle on what stays. It's exhausting, but worth it to be in love with the final product.

Favorite Items

I love everything in this room but if I had to pick one favorite thing it would be the mobile. It is so whimsical and matches the room perfectly. It was handmade by an Etsy Seller and I just love it! Also the prints also made by an Etsy seller (both of which are listed above) - They have special quotes on them which are very relevant to us, as we waited a long time for our precious little boy.

Advice

Really do your research beforehand to know what you want to eliminate needless running around/backtracking. I went through many different 'looks' before I settled on the current color palette and style. Also don't settle for something just to fill up the room - be sure you love every single piece in the room!

Such an adorable room! I like those elephant prints above the changing table. And that little bear popping out of the little chest is just so cute!
