A Super Hero First Birthday!

A pandemic baby, it was only appropriate to celebrate what a little super hero this baby boy has been! A ray of sunshine in a dark year, his super power has been his constant smiles, joy and laughter.
Inspired by a family nickname of “Thor”, I wanted this to be a celebration not just for him, but also to celebrate what a “super star” his older brother has been through this last year. This was a party both children would enjoy, and I felt that we all needed some celebration.
Each child was given their own super hero cape and costume, I hand made the high chair banner with scraps of ribbon and fabric, and the backdrop and cake topper were the special details that brought everything together.
I still cannot believe that this little guy is ONE! What a year it has been!

Eclectic Boys Nursery

Robert’s nursery was the first room we completed in our new house. My sister-in-law hand painted the accent wall and I painted the dresser in the same color blue. The shelves are filled with sentimental pieces, like my childhood teddy bear, a framed Hermès coloring book that was a wedding gift from a friend, and Robert’s favorite book “Mommy in my Pocket,” written by his grandma. The gallery wall is a collection of pictures and frames from different places that I’ve collected over the year, including Pop Art prints of our two dogs Moose and Bear. There’s a lot going on in this room but somehow I think it all works!
*Please note the room was styled for these photos – the plant is not normally within reach of the crib.

Arts & Crafts Colorful Playroom

About a year ago we moved my hubby’s home office to the basement and dedicated his old office to house Lily’s growing collection of toys. I wanted to design it right away but life, work, and all the things got in the way. One year later it is finally done! Check out Lily’s brand new arts and crafts themed playroom!
Check out the makeover video on the Craft Box Girls blog post.

Hoopstar Playroom

I chose this project because a ton of our kiddos are schooling virtually and so much of how they perform depends on environment.  I love that this playroom is dual functioning with a desk area for today’s virtual learning and a bean-bag lounge area for breaks.  This project is inspired by my client’s love for basketball so it’s a locker room theme.  When designing a playroom my advice would be storage, storage, and more storage!!  The lockers were a Facebook marketplace fine with a DIY repaint.  They tie in the locker room theme, but also give great storage!

Wonka Adventure Themed Nursery

This nursery was so fun to design! My client’s have a very tasteful, classic and  colorful outlook for the rooms in their home, and their son’s nursery was no different!  The room itself is a very odd layout with lots of angles. It only took about 10 minutes of discussing the design direction with them before we were all very excited! They wanted something magical, adventurous and creative, but something their son can grow into as well.
The room is designed around a Willy Wonka mural, perfect for adventure and color, teamed up with a navy striped wallpaper that adds a boldness to all the angles. There will be no shortage of imagination and adventure for this sweet boy!

“Oh What Fun!, Norah Claire is Turning One”

When I went to search for birthday themes for our December Baby I just kept coming across Winter ONE-derland and it seems that was all. I kept searching and searching for themes that we could tie into the Christmas season but I also wanted something that resembled birthday colors rather than only Christmas or winter. So I decided to scour Etsy and I finally found the “Oh What Fun” invitations from HunnyPrints and I was so excited. It was a play on a Traditional Christmas song lyric but also had colors that I thought would be super fun for a birthday party!
So I based the party around the invitation and I am so happy on how it turned out! I still got to use vibrant colors while keeping the theme related to Christmas/winter season.
I adorned the wall with a balloon garland in the colors white, dusty rose, gold, sage green, and forest green.
For the table decorations I scored these adorable bottle brush trees from the target dollar section! What a find and wallet saver!
Also whats a December birthday party with a hot cocoa bar! I ordered some candy cane disposable cocoa cups from Amazon and Stuffed some marshmallows into mason jars that I tied white and gold twine onto. The two tiered tin and gold serving tray was the perfect piece to set it all on. To top it it off my close friend Lauren (a party planning queen btw) gave me some adorable stir sticks that were snowflakes and some that were topped with frosted Christmas trees!
We didn’t end up having a ton of guests because of the pandemic but the party was a hit
A “oh, what fun!” , intimate celebration of our baby .
