Bright and Bold Kids Rooms

It used to be that baby’s first room was pale and sweet and very much about the softness of being small. Until recently, the trend was to keep it traditional, keep it cocoon-like and keep it very baby. Today, nurseries are much more about fun and boldness. Color is everywhere, and it’s not just primaries anymore.

I have been a big fan of deep blue walls ever since Jenna Lyons, from J.Crew, published her son Beckett’s room and opened the door for all of us to paint our walls deep saturated colors. Take a cue from fashion and create bold blocks of color.

You can also saturate the whole room with a single commitment to color.

Pops of one color against a pure white is a sure way to maintain the modern vibe. Soft pattern helps keep it child-friendly.

The perfect pink just got more perfect. Magenta, hot pink, coral and other colorful ladies are perfect when mixed with softness, and it’s still very girly girl.

Pick a fashion style and bring it home. Try bohemian mixed with your favorite look. Color should not be shy.

If you’re not ready for color everywhere, pick a place to put your color—the wall, the accessories or the textiles.

The rooms in your photos each has elements I really find interesting. Not exactly the bright and bold though.

I so love that orange/tangerine room! When you say bright and bold, I kinda prefer rooms in plain and bold colors, but not when it comes to using bold prints.

I admire those who strictly and religiously stick to one bold color, and the same exact shade, too. I tried doing that and it’s really not easy!
