Description

Welcome to the Skip Hop Nursery Design Event! This nursery was designed by OhJoy and was inspired by Skip Hop’s Complete Sheet, the Treetop Friends Collection. For more information on the design event and for details on how you can win prizes daily click here. - Project Nursery

Design Inspiration

I wanted to create a playful space that can grow with a baby from newborn to childhood. Kids love animals, and I love the whimsical feeling of the owls and birds in the Treetop bedding because it fits both boys and girls.

Decorating Style

I wanted to skew this particular room for a girl (since I have a girl and that's all I know!). I've never been into super girly themes and colors (no pale pink for me), so this is a girl's room that still feels feminine and fresh without using typical girl colors and motifs.

Favorite Items

The wall decals—I mixed some fun polka dots with the leaves from the Treetop set to make a brand new pattern. I want it to feel like the leaves and dots are being blown in the wind.

Advice

Don't worry about being too matchy-matchy. Choose items you like that fit within a color palette of 3 or 4 colors. That way they all complement each other but don't need to be exactly the same.

I love this one! I gave this one 5 out of 5 becaus it gives a warm and cozy feel, but is also playful at the same time. Exactly what I love for a nursery. I also liked it because I think it is a great option for a gender neutral nursery.

I adore the sweet owls and tree. I had wanted to do a Harry Potter themed nursery but without seeming tacky. This set allows me to reference key concepts from Harry Potter lore without over doing it.

This is perfect for us owl lovers and it’s not really “flashy” like some of them can be. This one gets my vote for sure!

I like this because it’s gender-neutral so if another kid comes along, you’re set to go. I’m also in love with pale yellow–it brightens up any room. The little touches of nature make it very peaceful, perfect for a baby to be sleeping in, rather than super bright that would keep a baby on sensory overload.

This is my favorite because it’s the theme of my nursery! We love the owls and the leaf patterns. We mixed the Skip hop toys, books, mobile, changing cover, and sheets with alphabet decals and a tree decal to round out our baby boy’s little home.
