Every so often, I like to do a post about rooms that inspire me. When I find my clippings file of my favorite things starting to overflow, I know it’s time to share some of my findings. I know that we’re all designing for our own personal spaces, but sometimes it’s helpful to look outside our comfort zone and discover some new ideas that might prove inspirational. Here are some of mine.
I have always been a little tentative with the color yellow, but I love it here, paired with the pale turquoise and bohemian accents. The room still feels childlike, yet there is room to grow. The personality of the room speaks for itself. Simply delightful.

Another fun idea is to add a little personal touch to the wall space. I love displays that have room for more additions. This photo collage wall is something I want to do in my own home.

This room is full of style and ideas. I like the fact that the room has so many possibilities—sleepovers, puppet shows and gymnastics! The fun use of patterns and colors follows the idea that anything goes here.

This is not a room I would ordinarily gravitate towards, but upon closer examination, I love that so much is going on, yet it all works—the slumber chamber, pom pom lamp shades and bright yellow cabinets. And it’s all mixed with fun wallpaper and brightly colored geometric rugs.

Boats and nautical ideas are always great for boys rooms; I love the simple translation here and the 3D effect it gives to the walls. It’s a nicely executed theme that can easily be over done at times.

And then there is pink. I love pink, and I love that this room is girly without being overly flowery. The addition of a one-of-a-kind, Picasso-like rug adds the element that sets this room apart and tosses all the rules to the wind. Fresh pops of color on the windows add contrast, and the vintage accent chairs mix with the modern so well.

Secret doors, small spaces and childlike elements always add play to a room. This room has all the elements of simple but fun, understated but curious with tons of personality.
