This week instead of featuring and suggesting products for a nursery in our Project of The Week, we wanted to share a darling do-it-yourself project. There is something about that pregnant nesting phase that gets those DIY juices flowing. During my first pregnancy I decided that since my mother could knit so well (and Julia Roberts!) I would become an expert knitter too. I had grand plans of knitting booties and hats and teeny-tiny little sweaters for my first born. Although no booties or sweaters were ever mastered, I felt really proud when I completed the most basic of blankets for the crib. Aside from the end product, the process was really therapeutic. Since many of our readers write in asking about nursery wall art, this handmade nursery art project was the perfect project to tackle. It was created by graphic designer turned art connoisseur Evie S. of Things of Beauty. She explains what you will need and takes you through each step on her blog. The cute color combo of brown and blue along with the elephant theme makes for a darling nursery addition. Because Mommy (or Daddy or Auntie or Nana) made it by hand, the finished product is even more adorable. Let us know by commenting on this blog how it turns out and also tell us about your own DIY nursery project!

Sadie's coming in just a matter of weeks (July 21st!) and Mom Sarah is busy in the Netherlands preparing her nursery. Thankfully for Mom, she has a great friend Alexandra who channels her inner artist on weekends to create a fun, friendly animal mural with a white picket fence and all. Now that the amazing wall mural is up, Sarah reached out to Project Nursery for bedding and window treatment inspiration... "I was thinking light blue, solid, (close to the wall color) with maybe two or three satin ribbons of color along the bottom. This would work but then I also want to hang wall letters above the bed spelling out Sadie's name but I'm wanting those to be in pink and red (which do not clash if you ask me, especially since they were my wedding colors!) or at least something girly. Then you have the problem with the pink and red wall letters right above the bedding which is going to be light blue. Of course the bedding can also be pink and red but then it doesn't match the curtain, which is on the other side of the (small) room. What's a girl to do?" So with Mom's genuine love of pink and red in mind (just like Hailey's room) here are Project Nursery's suggestions... Bedding: Go Farm Girl Fresh! Incorporate patterns and textures with a gingham bumper, floral sheets and denim pillows. Red, pink and blue will go great together. Think Ralph Lauren meets Shabby Chic! …

Five years ago I was on the hunt for the perfect tee. Super soft cotton, awesome fit, great colors and a tee that would hold up to even laundromat washings. (I can't believe there was a day when I didn't have my very own washer/dryer..can you even imagine that now?) So, it felt like I hit the tee shirt jackpot when I discovered Cherry Tee. Just so happens the company came about because of the founders' own quest for the perfect tee. Lucky for me, she had already tested hundreds of different versions and determined that the perfect tee was one that fit close to the body but wasn't too tight, long enough to cover your belly button but stop at the waist. Buttery, creamy cotton that gets better over time, keep their shape throughout washings and in colors that are chic and sophisticated. Bingo!! Now those folks at Cherry Tee have launched a new kids line. Cherry Tee's Sweetheart Collection includes their bestselling ribbed tank and cap sleeve crew t-shirts in kids' sizes 2T, 4T and 6. The collection brings that same high quality, chic and simple tees to little boys and girls. For the next 2 weeks we are proud to offer Project Nursery readers a 20% discount on all orders! Enter code "PNCT20" at checkout. The packaging is totally adorable (even on standard orders) complete with big lollipops which make these tees such perfect gifts! Don't miss out....

It's safe to say that we practice what we preach. We post what we enjoy, what we want, and what we buy. So we are sincerely excited to tell you about our super cool calling cards. A few weeks back we posted some great stationary and we cannot stress how much we appreciate Erin Condren's designs. We had to order some for ourselves... Good looking yes and practical too. At first, I thought calling cards were totally unnecessary. But after turning in my professional career to become mommy, I missed my two toned (with copper foil mind you), heavy card stock, embossed, business cards. Thankfully, this is now filling my void.   As a new family, you will want to make your mark. Announce it to the world or anyone you would want to mail something too! I just adore the return address mailing labels I now own. If you don't need them (and I can't imagine why), think about it as a great gift for newlyweds, a new family or a thoughtful housewarming gift! Use code "Project10" at check out and receive $10 off any order!

This week our "Project of the Week" featured room may be small on space but is big on sophistication and creativity. Cool Hoboken couple Jennifer and Calvin were able to turn a tiny 9x12 room into a little gem of a nursery for their baby boy Aven. They were inspired to design the nursery around the crib bedding they choose, Spa by Glenna Jean. Jennifer says she "loved the combination of colors, patterns, and textures" and that it was "a little more modern and sophisticated than your typical crib bedding."  We couldn't agree with you more Jennifer! The modern pattern and combination of lime green, chocolate brown and robin's egg blue set the tone for the big blocks of color they painted on one accent wall. They used Ralph Lauren paint color Kauai Jungle and Benjamin Moore's Sweet Olive and Wayward Wind for the blocks of color. It totally makes sense that this duo was able to come up with such a cool nursery for their son because aside from being quite the design team they also have their own modern baby products website, Modern Munchkin. The site offers "cool clothes for your lil' munchkin" as well as great modern bedding and gifts. We can't forget the nod to all-time heart breaker and renegade rebel James Dean with the neon-lit poster. We are sure with cool parents and great digs to start off life in, Aven will be a legend in his own right!

As you obsess over the details of the baby nursery, read all the books, and wait 8 weeks for your Dutailier nursery rocker to arrive, are you really thinking about you? I mean beyond the vitamin E cream for your belly. (Well, maybe you are if you ordered the Dutailier). As a new mom, they say that the best thing to do is to sleep when your baby sleeps. Now really, who has the time?!? There's a whole other person's laundry and bottle washing to be done. But it IS important and if you are lucky enough to sneak in that cat nap, then do so with the nuddle! To sum it up: it's plush, cozy, has slates for your arms to hold your baby, the remote or a glass of yummy old vine zin. But best of all, there's a pocket to keep your feet tucked in. In fact, the nuddle can also be worn as a robe. Now that's certainly better than walking around topless while getting the hang of breastfeeding for the first few weeks. This functional, fabulous product retails for $110 on http://www.nuddleblanket.com/ So once you've come to the realization that you won't be sleeping 10 hours a night, you'll quickly notice that your shower time has been dwindled down to less than two minutes. When having to choose between washing your hair or shaving your legs - shave your legs. Use Shampowder by Buttercream Cosmetics to degrease your tress. Shampowder not only freshens your hair …
