Leave it to two talented art school grads and owners of graphic design studio, Form Code to develop an artistic, modern and soothing nursery for their baby boy. Impressive how they make adding a few ABC's to the wall look as easy as 123... "Our inspiration for the room was the bedding for one- it’s Dwell Alphabet bedding.  We thought it would be a great beginning for the room, we’re both art graduates and back in our day (lol) we had a hand lettering class.  My husband’s best class, mine not so much- so it was kind of a good connection for us to bring that memory back to our son’s room. We used BEHR paint for the room, the colors for the wall are Cumberland Fog, Little Dipper and Silver Strand.  The mural was created on the computer and then projected on the wall- from there we hand painted all of the letters....fun, fun!  Ha!  The monkey on the wall was "Magnus” from egg press- we thought he was so cute, so we replicated him as a painting." "The crib and dresser are Babi Italia Scandi style.  I loved the white and espresso color and it went well with the bedding colors.  The bookcase was purchased from West Elm- love their stuff and it's now loaded with a multitude of knick-knacks. Some of our favorite items in the room would be the Domo doll and the Ugly doll- hopefully they will become his favorite stuffed animals :0)  We wanted a more “furniture”-like rocker for the room so we bought the Wendy Bellissimo …

Inspired by Potterybarn Kids's "Alphabet Soup" crib bedding: A sweet, simple, gender neutral nursery for baby to be. The other week we showcased H's (all boy) playtime nursery. H's adoptive family also knew they would be welcoming H's biological sister shortly there after. Without knowing the sex, they turned to cool, gender neutral crib bedding for inspiration.   Sarah tells us that she "started with the "Alphabet Soup" crib bedding from Pottery Barn Kids purchased off Ebay(PN note: LOVE Ebay as a "NIB", PBK or RH resource!) and pulled the colors featured in that bedding to use in the rest of the room.  The room features light green walls with red and light blue accents.  We fell in love with, and splurged on a matching elephant rocker from Babystyle which we love!  Also used in this room are framed alphabet wall cards from EEBOO which we feel adds a touch of whimsy." Little sister A is now a beautiful, active 10 month old girl enjoying her lovely room and lucky family! We wish the H family all the best as they are in the home stretch of their adoption process! Now if they could just build a playroom we all could admire..... Please send us your inspirational nursery, toddler or play area accomplishments to melisa@littleappledesign.com

Grab your bin full of toys in a heartbeat when on the go with the Skip Hop "Bin Go" ! A seven hour car ride to Grandma's house warrants alot of toys for entertainment. Often my diaper bag, aka former coveted Tod's handbag, can't accommodate all the toys, books, and DVD player required to satisfy a toddler. Where was the Bin Go last week when I needed it??? Skip Hop bins are made of soft yet durable canvas and come in three colors schemes to compliment any nursery or playroom.  The large circle rings provide "total totability" and come in two sizes. The large bins are ideal for blankets, toys and books while the Bin Go Table Top Organizer and it compartments can be utilized as a terrific portable diaper changing station (among many other things). Off to Grandma's house we go...prepared the next time!

Yes, you heard correct. I spent $36 dollars on my nursery chandelier...no joke. And, it's amazing so I had to share... Here's the situation: The remodeling of our bedrooms are nearly complete. It's crunch time and the electrician was wiring the house.  After scouring amazing sites such as Y Lighting, Circa Lighting, Lighting Universe and Horchow, I was under the gun to choose a lighting fixture for my son's nursery that would arrive in 2-3 business days.  It was to be a fixture that was contemporary, gender neutral and unique. While I longed for a stunning sparkly chandelier, this was my boy's room after all (for the time being anyway), and I simply couldn't go there. I then figured $36 dollars would be a temporary spend until I found the pendant light of my dreams. Here's when Urban Outfitters' 3-D modern non-chandelier, chandelier came into play. Okay, so a cord kit and "Edison" bulb are additional. But all in all, worth it.  And while I mention this fun find, I will also mention the completion (base board & solid mohagany floors) of my nursery "Modern Baby Blue" that inspired our blog gig!

Environment is such an important part of a child's development.Foster and soon-to-beadoptive parents,The "H's", have created an incredibly bright, cheery and engaging environment for their son's new home.Project Nursery is delighted to share with you the inspirational details... "Being foster/adoptive parents is something my husband and I had always wanted to do.  There is such a great need for quality foster homes (especially homes willing to accept sibling groups or minority races) that we felt that compelled to help and love some of these special children.  "H" came to us as a young baby due to severe physical abuse and has since blossomed into an amazingly happy, loving toddler. We are so excited that we will be able to adopt him and his sister within the next few months!!  Fostering him, although at times stressful and heartbreaking, has been an amazing experience that we feel so blessed to have been a part of." - S.H. What child wouldn't thrive within such loving and playful surroundings? While most of us are on the never-ending search forwall art, little H's mom came up with a brilliant interactive solution. Colorful wall decals spell out "PLAY TIME" in the room's modern color theme: blue with red, orange and lime green accents. Below it, bins from IKEA were cut, separated and nailed to the wall to create fun stuffed animal toy storage and loads of entertainment for H. A superb idea for not only a nursery but a playroom! H's parents created a lively little boy's room to sustain the active toddler …

I was fairly proactive when I was pregnant and made the time to search for the perfect birth announcement. I took the advice of friends and prepared lists, mailing labels and heart stamps for when the baby arrived. While it was a little "A-type" of me (and for those of you who know me well, that's not a-typical), it did pan out in the end because birth announcements were the last thing on my mind with a new baby and sleepless nights. Getting to my point...All that effort went into a very pricey paper announcement. I then began to wonder if my mailing list would appreciate the paper quality, color and font? I then began to think about all the announcements I've acknowledged and tossed in the trash. Yikes! Lillybean Designs developed a creative solution called the "Birth Mark", a bookmark announcement. Now I am not saying that you'll have lots of time to read as a new mom, however at least your friends and family will have an opportunity to make use out of a beautiful bookmark. Heck, your baby's announcement will last more than a couple of weeks! Lillybean Designs is a boutique paperie offering personalized stationary, wall art, custom photo cards, babe magnets, "birth marks", business/hip mama calling cards and more! They also welcome custom orders and I can personally vouch for their ability to create lovely custom work. Owner Shawna, was quick to respond and provided creative suggestions in my quest for calling cards the other …
