Gender-neutral nursery design has been around forever, but there’s no question that lately we’ve been seeing a modern twist to the traditional white and yellow color palette. I love when I see room designs that are outside the “color box,” and these modern gender-neutral nurseries are nothing short of perfection! Their clean lines, creative color palettes and impeccable design aesthetics would work perfectly for either gender and any age!
Don’t be afraid to introduce a pattern into the nursery! There are so many wallpaper prints and decals available that would work for either a boy or a girl, and they come in a variety of simple and modern patterns! One of my favorite places to find gorgeous wallpaper designs is Spoonflower—you can even design your own! I love the diamond ikat wallpaper in this lime green and blue nursery—it’s such a fun and happy color combination.
Daniel’s Lime Green and Blue Nursery
Lime green might just be my latest favorite neutral. Once I saw this gorgeous mod-styled nursery, that sweet, citrusy hue forever stole a special place in my heart. That furniture…OH. THAT. FURNITURE. And how cool would it be to add the baby’s initials to that big white heart above the crib once he or she arrives!
Sticking with the modern wallpaper designs, how gorgeous is this stained glass print on the accent wall? This modern gray nursery is a beautiful example of one of my design tips—don’t be afraid to rotate your furniture. An angled dresser or turned crib will add interest to the layout of the room. I’m totally crushing on this orange, gray and yellow color palette too. And this gorgeous space was actually styled for a baby girl—she’s one lucky chick!
Margot’s Modern Gray, Orange and Yellow Nursery
The basket weave pattern is more commonly found in traditional settings, but I love how it was given a super modern twist in this teal and gray nursery! Its geometric design works perfectly with the octagon accent shelves and funky printed rug. The dark teal is a great complement to the taupe, gray and white, and this color palette would be beautiful in a baby’s room or guest bedroom!
Bright hues like orange add the perfect pop of color to a space. They brighten the room and can actually become a design element in accent pieces and decor. I love how this tranquil nursery combines clean lines with whimsical wall art and a stunning orange ottoman, pillow and lamp!
Which of these modern gender-neutral nurseries is your favorite? How would you add a modern twist to your baby’s space?
