Do you have mudroom envy like I do? Having a place where you and your kids can drop off all of your dirty shoes and bags before they make their way into the home? I’ve been swooning over the mudroom designed by Muse Interiors below for quite some time now.
If you can’t afford to have a custom one built, maybe you can swing one like below. It’s still organized and clean, but it looks like a relatively easy project if you or your husband are handy with tools.

And if you aren’t handy or just don’t have the extra time, Wisteria has come out with a lovely Hall Bench piece, which is minimal yet has some great style. It’s not inexpensive, but it’s a lot cheaper than having a custom unit built.

Andrika I think you read my mind! i have been dreaming up mudroom ideas for my own home but problem is we don’t actually have a mudroom. ha! the shoes and clutter drive me crazy though. I just saw Serena & Lily came out with a new distressed wood bench with space for bins underneath. thought it was a nice way to get organized in a small space. i love your ideas. thanks! – P

It would be really great to have a mudroom like the one in the first photo, but sadly, we don’t have the extra space for it.

Mudrooms are really great if you have a lot of extra room or space in your house to spare. But if I do have an extra space at home, I’d use it for a crafts room/play room for me and the kids.

I honestly didn’t know there are such things as mudrooms! I love learning new things from your site, PN.
