Playmobil Christmas Room

To get us all in the holiday spirit, over the next few weeks, we're going to be sharing some of our favorite holiday gifts with you from either our own childhoods or from our children's. Hopefully, they'll inspire you as you shop for holiday gifts for your own kids. I'm stealing the title from my brother, who, when he was little, would say each and every year, "This is the best Christmas ever!" One of my most treasured gifts as a child was the wooden dollhouse that my dad built for me. I loved playing with that dollhouse for years. I kept my house mainly furnished with Playmobil, particularly their Victorian collection (sadly, no longer in circulation). Oh, I loved that stuff! Nice and durable, it ensures that your kids can actually play with their dollhouse rather than just admire it. And look, they even have Christmas settings! Playmobil Christmas Room Little boys and girls alike enjoy playing with dollhouses. Who wouldn't love pretending with miniature versions of the things in their own home? These days there are plenty of options suitable for both boys and girls. But if your little boy has already moved into the dreaded avoid anything girly stage, a toy garage can offer the same benefits of pretend play. And, hey, your little girl may love it too.  My mom begged her parents for a toy garage when she was little, and she got one. 1. The Playmobil 1.2.3. Farm House is perfect for little folks; …

It happens about this time every year. The stress. The anxiety. The fear of knowing that it's time for me to wrangle my family, coordinate them in the season's best outfits, bribe (or threaten) smiles out of them and pretend for that quick second of a camera click—that we ARE the perfect, smiling, calm family of four, who just happen to have on matchy, but not too matchy outfits. Call me old fashioned if you want (or just plain crazy for trying to organize family pictures), but you just can't replace the warm-and-fuzzy feeling you get every time you receive a holiday photo card in the mail. Plus, it's a great excuse to show off your adorable offspring (belly or babies)! So, here it is for all my lovely PN friends—some of my favorite places to find the most adorable cards, design ideas and the dos and don'ts of Christmas card sending. Design: Which came first, the picture or the card?  Whether you start with the card and shoot your picture to coordinate or vice versa, look for a Christmas card that fits your family's personality and style. This year I'm going for a gray, yellow and turquoise color scheme with my favorite print of the moment—chevron! I love how this card from PaperPatchINK is just yellow and grey; I can add a pop of color by having each of us wearing a little turquoise! Don't be afraid to combine your good news! I love this card from Lillebarn Too; it …

Does your child’s room have the WOW factor? Did you host a show-stopping birthday party or baby shower? New to 2011, Project Nursery will be choosing the best of the Project Gallery uploads. Each month our team will choose three of their favorite projects from two categories: real rooms and real parties. You’ll be hearing from Melisa with the favorite room finalists and contributor Kim of The TomKat Studio with the top party finalists. With your assistance, our team will then award two Project Nursery readers with $50 Visa gift cards and designer bragging rights!

In lieu of another holiday post for Christmas, I’m jumping straight into decor ideas for 2011.

A concept which I have always loved is aiming to purchase a few “adult” pieces of furniture or artwork for your child’s room which serve as investment pieces as well as something that your child could keep for many years to come. The following pieces are graphic simplistic image prints by Enzo Marni. The oversize of the prints as well as the overtly basic subjects of the pieces of art draw me to these pieces for a child’s room.

The holidays are upon us and to get you in the spirit, we thought we’d share a little shopping inspiration from your friends at Project Nursery. Our team has rounded up the FIVE items they love, cherish, gift or simply can’t live without.

I am a procrastinator when it comes to the holidays. I’ll find myself speed shopping on Christmas Eve for the perfect gifts. It’s become sort of a tradition, probably passes down from my parents. So if your looking for more last minute recommendations, I am your girl!

Wow, December 1st is here and the holiday season is in full swing with 24 days left until Christmas.  So you know what that means? Time to break out your advent calenders and get the countdown a-rollin'.  Oh how I just love these calenders...I could hardly contain myself as a child each day that it was time to unveil those tiny treats & treasures.  Granted, the wax-like chcolate that was hiding inside was...eh. But who cared, all it meant was one day closer to ole' St. Nick making his way to my house! I gotta tell you, these calenders have come a long way since I was a little kiddo and I am now excited to share this tradition with my kids.  Some of the calenders are set up for the full 25 days and others are just the 12 days before.  I think this year we are going with the 12 days countdown version.  I figured if I did the whole month, it may feel like an eternity to my two year old.  Plus, I found the perfect little ornaments to create my own - project pending!  Since I don't have my own DIY advent to share with you just yet, I will substitute with some fabulous pics and a link to a sweet tutorial.  Happy counting! This cute calender is available on Etsy from Pretty Swank for $24.00 How about a "Baby Sock" advent Calender via Martha Stewart Kids - perfect for all you new mamma's No more baby socks on hand? …

This could possibly be one of my absolute favorite times of the year!! Good food, lots of entertaining and great gifts to give. Add kids into the mix?…Even better! Here are a few of my favorite things this holiday season.
