We’re ready to reveal to our readers the two beautiful nursery vignettes the PN team showcased at Big City Moms’ Biggest Baby Shower Ever.
The large space allowed us to come up with two 8′ x 11′ room concepts. We asked the NYC-based design team My Tiny Nest to lead the charge and design the spaces in tandem with children’s artist and designer Sam Simon. The boy’s room used the hot color combo of navy and orange for a clean and modern look.
The white and walnut Campaign crib by ducduc set the stage against our focal wall. The striped wall, with wide bands of navy narrowing as they came closer to the floor, was the genius idea of Julie Frank that we’re hoping takes off as a new nursery trend. And while the Oilo Wheels Motif crib set inspired the look of the room, FLOR tiles, in an off-white shag bordered by a thin navy pile, grounded the contemporary nursery space.
The AJ 4-Drawer Changer by ducduc is ideal for storage and was made to stand out in the crowd. It drew loads of visitors, including Honest Company’s Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, Christopher Gavigan. The ladies of ducduc were on hand to meet parents and share more information about their striking lines of furniture. Sam Simon’s retro rocket ship and astronaut canvas art boosted that cool kid factor.
Alas, it was a traditional and romantic girl’s room that captured the hearts of the show’s attendees. Sam Simon went all out here as he bedazzled his way around the room with hand painted chandeliers and butterflies, all adorned with Swarovski crystals.
Bellini provided the beautiful Danny crib with rope designed posts and an oversized storage drawer. Room accessories came from our lovely friends out west Serena & Lily. The Collette crib set inspired this Parisian take on a little girl’s nursery. Their incredible Natural Flora Crocheted Rug was like walking on a bed of flowers. It certainly added to the dreamy and feminine feel of the entire room.
Our friends at the West Elm Chelsea location were life savers. Not only did they allow us to add some last-minute finishing touches using their vast array of decorative accessories (which we highly endorse for the nursery, yes, nursery!), they were incredibly helpful dropping off items, saving our team both time and energy. After all, it’s not everyday you have five hours to build two entire nurseries from scratch. While we are huge online West Elm shoppers, we’re gonna drop into our local West Elm location more often where good folks like Franklyn (pictured below) are customer service champions.
More great accessories came to us from our good friends at OpenSky. The Jellycat Bashful Bunnies pictured above are quite possibly the softest and sweetest stuffed animals on the market, topping our new baby gift go-to list.
Lastly, the huge draw into our space was the Nurseryworks Empire Rocker, where moms-to-be test-rocked this glamorous nursery must-have for a chance to win it. Adorned with the ever hip Room Service pillow, exclaiming, “Hug Me,” it was a huge hit. We’re thrilled to say, it made it to a very lovely home in need of a rocker on the east side of Manhattan the following day.

The boys room would be great in a beach house. Maybe with some lighthouse or beach artwork instead of the rocket ships. I love the painted chandelier in the girls room, it give height to the space without putting in an expensive, in-the-way light fixture.

Gorgeous displays! But I love the girl’s room more. And I also have to say that the flowery crocheted rug is a true winner!

Fantastic job, you guys! I like that you did a boy’s and girl’s room, one modern and the other traditional. I wish next time you can have a bigger display space and showcase more of what you have.
