From pencils to water bottles, shoes to lunch bags, labeling your child’s gear is important to keep us parents organized. I label just about everything. Labeling does more than just help you get organized—labeling helps prevent those awkward sippy cup mix-ups at play dates during cold and flu seasons. It keeps sweaters out of the lost and found box and can even save lives by alerting teachers and aides of food allergies.
Selecting the right label for your kid’s gear is easy. First look for durable labels that are laundry and dishwasher safe. Next find a style that fits your child. There are some great label companies out there that allow you to create your own personalized label that’s stylish and unique.
Name Bubbles offers the cutest baby bottle and sippy cup labels around.
Emily Press Labels makes the best shoe labels and offers tons of cute designs.
Label Your Stuff created a personalized allergy label that gets my vote.
Cherry Hill Designs created a heavy-duty, glossy tag that’s perfect for diaper bags, backpacks and luggage. They have such cute graphics too!

I am pregnant with my first child and am lucky enough to have some wonderful friends who are letting me borrow items we will need for the first few months. I am looking for good ideas of how I can keep track of what items are borrowed and from whom. I don’t want to permanantly mark the items, what do you think about Poloroids? Any suggestions?
Thanks!!

Congrats!!!
If you haven’t rec’d the items yet, ask your friends to place labels on the items (underneath or where they aren’t noticeable). For items you already have, I like the idea of creating a list/document with images (either using poloroids or digital pix online w a site like Shutterfly). You are so thoughtful to keep this all organized for your friends!

I use StuckOnYou.biz for my labels. They have a decent selection and even a designer option with beautiful icons and colors. :) I’ll have to keep this company in mind the next time I order though and compare prices.

I used to snicker at parents who are so keen at labeling just about everything. I used to find it so anal. But then my kid started school and I realized how important labeling is. I then found myself hoarding label stickers and markers!
