One of the endearingly cute parts of the preschool years is the “boyfriend/girlfriend.” Both my children came home at some point claiming to have one, which really meant they had a friend who they liked to hold hands with on the playground. This puppy love is all so innocent and precious. I just love this darling stage before girls (or boys) become “icky.”

Sweet little Valentine’s parties like this don’t have to be complicated affairs. Two or three easy desserts—like pre-packed snack cakes cut into heart shapes—and a few decorative candies are all it takes to create a party that will make your little ones feel special. Serve your drinks in pink, with striped or heart paper straws (they’re widely available now!). Inexpensive washi tape on glassware and dishes adds an instant easy Valentine’s touch.
