Mom Style: 7 Essential Pieces

Tired of wearing your old jeans and workout clothes to the playground? To inspire you, here are seven essential pieces that every mom should consider having in her closet.  Not only are they stylish, they are incredibly comfortable and practical too! And at the end of the day, when you’re chasing after your toddler, comfort matters most!

How brilliant is this long sleeve sweatshirt by Helmut Lang? With its funnel collar, hook and eye closure, off-center zipper and diagonal hem line, it makes for a unique replacement to your workout hoodie. Update: We just spotted the sweatshirt on sale for $98, but it will probably sell out fast (the link has been updated)!

For extra warmth and layering, why not wear a compression tank such as this Yummie Tummie Stella tank? We may as well “sculpt” and hold in our figures while looking chic all at the same time.

Slim fit and streamlined, DL1961’s Emma Legging Jeans are perfect for the playground or for date night. The front faux pockets don’t add any unwanted bulk to an area that we may already be sensitive about.

Just because you are running from playground to play group, doesn’t mean that you have to wear your sneakers. Try dressing up your look with a pair of ballet flats. The Maria Sharapova Air Bacara Ballet Flat by Cole Haan has a cushioned foot bed and uses a Nike Air technology rubber pod in the sole for extra comfort.

The Tumi “Voyageur Capri” is the perfect crossbody bag when you are ready to switch out your diaper bag and lighten up your load. The nylon fabric is easy to clean, convenient to carry around and just large enough to fit your keys, wallet, snacks and sanitary wipes.

Look for a cuff such as this one to complete your look by infusing some texture and dimension.Silver Cuff

And don’t forget to cover up your weary eyes with a pair of chic sunglasses—the easiest way to disguise your dark rings while looking super stylish at the same time.

This look is great and is really practical. Great call on the ballet flats. I wear mine to the park, on playdates and even to the office! I have the Air Bacara flats - they are excellent quality. They still look great after multiple wears (almost everyday).

I love that sweatshirt. I have the camisole (which it looks like you can find for about the cost of a bra right now). But I am always trying to find a great fitting pair of jeans that can play triple duty (work/home/night out). And those are kinda worth gold in my book. Perhaps these are the ones!! Love the whole look and it gives me great ideas for my next spree. Thank you!

Great Styling tips!! I'm not wealthy, I have two kids, and I prefer to buy high quality items that can serve me for years (I just look for sales or buy less) so this post fits perfectly. I own the Tumi bag and after 2 years it still looks like new. I LOVE the Helmut Lang sweatshirt and am ecstatic it's on sale - Thank you! Keep these tips coming!!!....
