Pam and Melisa shared their predictions for the big trends in nursery design for the year. As we all know, decor trends tend to trickle throughout all of home decor, so we expect many of these trends will be just as popular in older kids’ rooms as they are in the nursery.
Pastels. With Pantone’s new color of the year choice, pastels are likely to make a comeback this year.
Rose Gold. Gold was big for the last couple years. This year, we think its warmer cousin, rose gold, will start to steal the spotlight. Look for warm copper accents to mimic the feel of rose gold.
Southwestern Charm. This trend takes influence from the southwest and appears in all types of kids design—from rustic to whimsical.
Up in the Air. We are spotting clouds on everything, and this motif has always been right at home in children’s design.
Natural Wood Accents. You’ll be able to spot wood in all its natural glory in kids design this year. It adds a rustic touch and doesn’t have to be heavy handed if used sparingly in accents.
All About Color. Kids rooms are a place where you don’t have to be afraid to play with color. We expect to see more mixing of bold colors this year.
Woodland Princess Girl Room Design
Inspired By… Travel/Adventure. We want all the possibilities open for our kids, and room designs are beginning to reflect that with Dream Big style.
Everything Modern. Whether selecting a minimal style or a throwback to mid-century modern, parents all over will be embracing some modern sensibilities.
Cara Loren’s Son’s Big Boy Room
Granny Chic. Crocheted blankets, quilts, lace and florals are returning but this time with a chic sense of style.
Cosmic. We’re seeing this celestial trend with navy blues as dark as the night sky with splashes of gold or brass sparkling in contrast.
Don’t forget to upload your child’s room to our gallery. We love to see how these trends play out for the year, and who knows? You might be next year’s trendsetter.
