Layla Grayce’s $5000 Nursery Giveaway + Inspiration Board!

As most of you know there is an amazing giveaway going on right now at Layla Grayce.  They are giving away a nursery valued at over $5000!  Better yet, you get a whole lot of of choices from some very quality vendors to create your dream nursery.  In fact, our very own Pam and Melisa from Project Nursery are also offering two hours of free design consults to help you pick out the design!

Well for fun (since I’m a designer myself and love to create inspiration boards), I decided to create a board based on the options that you have in the giveaway to help give you an idea of just how many wonderful items are included and why you’d be silly not to register.

1. Crib, 2.Rug, 3. Bedding, 4.Changer, 5. Carousel Canvas, 6. Lamp, 7. Nightlight, 8. Diaper Bag, 9. Doll, 10. Dream Ring, 11. Chair

First off when designing a room, you need to start with one item.  For large rooms in a house it is usually a rug and since there are only two rug choices from Dwell in the giveaway, I decided to start with the rug and chose the DwellStudio Tufted Wool Rug Dots in Petal. Next we find a Dwell bedding set included in the giveaway to match.  I have loved the Zinna Rose set since I laid eyes on it, so that was an easy choice. I was blown away that the winner gets two furniture pieces from Newport Cottages (one of my favorite vendors).  So I went with two tried and true timeless designs: the Cape Cod Roses Crib and the Taylor Changer.  I’d order the crib in white with the roses in grey and the changer in white with a tray and knobs in grey.  To pull in some yellow from the rug, I chose an oversized canvas Mural Carousel (32″ x 42″) from Oopsy Daisy.  This would actually work best above the crib since it does not have a frame.

For accessories, to compliment the abstract flowers on the bedding without being too matchy, I really liked the Oopsy Daisy Polka Dots & Roses Lamp.  Every kid needs a nightlight, and the Forest Fawn was too precious to pass up. BlahBlah is giving you the choice of an giant doll and a dream ring.  I just chose Sandwich the Cat & the Owl because I liked the colors and how they compliment the decor, but this is a more personal choice and really any would look wonderful. Lastly, it is just serendipity that the Cake Hampton Holdall in Berry Chiffon diaper bag by Petunia Pickle Bottom matched perfectly with the decor.

Ever nursery needs a place to sit for mom and dad.  Instead of a traditional glider, a small-scale comfy chair that would transition well into any room of the house.  This Miramar Chair by Serena & Lily in Fog Diamond is not included in the giveaway but you could use your $500 gift certificate from Layla Grayce to go towards the purchase of it.

Lastly for your two hour consultation with Pam and Melisa from Project Nursery, let them work on the room layout and pick the perfect shade of pink for the walls.  You are also going to need some storage space for books and toys, a mirror above the dresser, and possibly a monogrammed decorative pillow for the chair.  You still get another option for a piece of artwork from Oopsy Daisy, and I’m going to suggest a personalized piece or a growth chart. This giveaway also includes some wonderful pieces from Barefoot Dreams as well as additional pieces from Petunia Pickle Bottom which were not included in the inspiration board.

Have fun dreaming up your design nursery, you might just be the winner!
