Design Board:Feminine & French Country Inspiration

Look around: The French Country look is all over the place these days!  From the new nursery and children’s room collection by Restoration Hardware Baby & Child to the growing popularity of lines such as Art for Kids & the Provence Collection by Newport Cottages. I drew inspiration from the beautiful nursery designed by Amy D Morris.

Although this particular nursery contains expensive, beautiful antiques, you can get the same look for less by combining nursery and adult furniture and accessories.  I normally would not choose silk bedding because of its impracticality, but it suited the look of the room and had a similar feel to Amys. I would however add in silk drapes as Amy did (I could not fit them in my inspiration board!) and would paint the room a very soft barely there peachy/pink color which is even softer than the color above. I chose the ballerina artwork because of it’s juvenile yet elegant nature. And lastly, the mirror and foot stool are from Wisteria – yet another reason to browse though all the catalogs that you get in the mail as they are a valuable resource for unexpected nursery accessories and furniture pieces!

Hi Andrika: Am not too much of a fan when it comes to antiques and older things. I think that is unimaginable for me to have my baby in a room with old looking things, I really don’t know how to spice it up!

Finally, I found the information I was searching for. I have been doing research on this subject, and for four days I keep finding sites that are supposed to have what I am searching for, only to be discouraged with the lack of what I needed. I wish I would have found your website sooner! I had about 25% of what I was looking for and your website has that, and the rest of what I needed to complete my research. Thank you and I will report back on how it goes!
