Description
I wanted a clean and simple space with lots of natural light. I also wanted lots of colors and textures without having "characters" or a "theme" to his nursery. I started with gray and white and added in golden yellow and a little blue. I didn't mean for it to but his nursery actually turned out very gender neutral.
Design Inspiration
The board and batten walls started it all! Once I decided on those everything spiraled from them.
Decorating Style
I wanted a modern and somewhat whimsical nursery for our little boy but still wanted little touches of baby. I knew I wanted the walls to be board and batten and I loved how they turned out. So simple yet so bold!
Favorite Items
I love the rug, curtains and crib bedding. I love all the patterns and textures they create.
Advice
Take it slow. Start with your vision and gather images online for ideas you like and want to recreate. I slowly created this room over about 4 months, after I found out the sex of our baby and didn't finish it until a few weeks before he was born. Also, many shades of color can work. I was stuck on finding the "perfect" gray and the "perfect" yellow, when really, many variations of grays and yellow worked fine together.
