Boho + Farmhouse Baby Nursery

When decorating my children’s spaces, I always look for ways to incorporate the modern farmhouse style of the rest of our home with the whimsy of a child’s space. For this nursery, I knew I wanted to give a vintage feel to the space, so we installed a shiplap wall (which is found in other parts of our home), but in the nursery we installed it vertically. I felt like this gave the space a retro look to correlate with the other rattan and vintage inspired pieces in her room. I love soft and warm neutrals so I knew I wanted to start with a simple white canvas and add subtle colors in small areas of the room.
I also absolutely love shopping with small businesses, especially those run by other moms, and really enjoyed culling little pieces from these shops.  Her room is an eclectic mix of goods from all over the world, and I love to think about all of the creative women who crafted them with love, all while supporting their families.  My hope was to create a soothing space that not only looked pretty, but also was unmistakably a child’s room filled with my daughter’s little treasures. We hope you love these boho and farmhouse baby nursery decor ideas!

Easy Halloween decor

My sister is a kids illustrator and this year I asked her to help us prepare to Halloween party for our 3 kids. And here is a result. I like this easy way to decor our entrance. Looking forward for some windows decoration as well.
It’s super easy craft for kids (you will need just print, cut and fold it) and looks very cute.

Boho Chic Girl’s Room

My daughter is my hardest client yet. With a constantly evolving style, she loves so many different elements that it’s hard to complete a space without a lot of hesitation and second-guessing. However, this finished room left my girl happy, and for that, I’m ecstatic.
We combined a neutral palette using white and black along with jewel tones on her bedding and pillows to add some pop and give a little character/personality to this space.

Bright & Colourful Playroom with Mastermind Toys

It’s finally time to reveal the corporate playroom i’ve been working on for several months. Mastermind Toys, Canada’s largest specialty toy and children’s book retailer, wanted to transform an unused room at their HQ office into an inspiring space. It needed to be fun, bright and full of wonder… and I was up for the challenge! I was asked to create an environment that could serve many purposes. One to host vendors and suppliers, to hold internal meetings and workshops, as well as to capture all of their social and marking content. I had two large set walls built in order to create some pretty iconic and special moments and even transformed a small office space into a full photography studio, perfect for capturing product unboxing videos and storing photography gear. We were so lucky to have such wonderful partners join in to help bring this space to life; floor knot cushions from Juju & Jake, storage bins, rugs and bedding from Pehr, wall decals from Urban Walls, a reversible floor mat from Play with Pieces, wall decor and a bean bag from Gautier Studio, a slide from Catchu Boutique and wallpaper from Chasing Paper. The pièce de résistance is definitely the 5-foot custom neon sign from Neonific that really lights up the room with a playful and bold aesthetic. I am so proud of this incredible playroom that brings a sense of imagination and a twinkle to everyone’s eyes…

Cactus Cowboy

Once my husband and I found out we were having another boy we knew we wanted the boys to share a room. I wanted to create a space that was beneficial for my 3 year old and my soon to be newborn. I kept most of the decor from my first sons nursery and just added some small details to make it feel new. I really love how their room turned out and my oldest son could not wait for the arrival of our new little buckaroo to share their room.

Boho Chic Modern Gender-Neutral Baby Nursery

Given that we do not know the gender of our baby arriving this October 2020, we wanted to create a gender neutral room that was playful, full of light, and had lots of pops of colour that would allow our baby to explore and grow into the person they want to be! My husband and I are both outdoorsy people – so we loved bringing in plants into the room to add the fresh feel of being outside, indoors. Our advice for creating the perfect nursery is to pick an item that inspires you (ours was our nursery rug), and then go from there – start finding items that complement the item you want the room to be inspired by!

Girls Room Makeover

The “Before” was a very boring, plain, builder-grade look. The house was built in 2019 and while everything was nice and new, the room had no personality and did not reflect the little girl living in it at all! There was nothing “custom” about the room and it’s likely that everyone who bought a home from our builder had rooms that looked exactly like this one. The room also had very little functionality aside from sleeping! There was little to no storage, no shelving, and no real storage system for toys, books, etc.
We wanted more, and needed more out of this space. We wanted a space that WE could get creative in, but that would also encourage creativity for our little girl! She needed a place she could feel herself in, feel safe in, read in, study in, and just enjoy being home in!
The entire makeover could have been done in one weekend, but it took us about 3-4 weeks simply for delivery or products we had ordered to spruce things up (bedding, rugs, etc.). We chose a kid-friendly bedding that can be made up simply with pull of a zipper! We went with a beautiful and feminine floral peel and stick wallpaper that was not only SUPER easy to apply, but it has all my daughter’s favorite colors!! Then we added some neutral wood toned shelving for aesthetics and storage, a large comfortable egg chair for cozying up with a book, and some floating shelves above the dresser for books and/or pictures. The entire project cost about $750.
We love everything about this project! My daughter was over the moon thrilled when it was finally done and now she enjoys playing, reading, lounging in there all the time!! It’s so pretty and functional now that it’s even inspired her to keep it clean!! Now if that’s not a mom-win, I don’t know what is!!!
I honestly wouldn’t change a thing, well…except I would have done it sooner!!! But my only words of advice would be make sure that whatever wallpaper you choose works with your wall type. For example if you have textured walls, make sure you get a wallpaper that works well on it. This one did for me! The other thing I would add is make sure you choose design elements that are true to YOU!!! You are unique and the room’s personality should reflect yours!

Leosaurus Kids Room

My project started with a post I recently saw on IG @projectnursery of a baby’s room with a modern green wall.  I almost instantly decided to revamp my toddler’s room to fit his evolving interests and personality.  Leo loves dinosaurs, but I wanted to keep the theme subtle, clean and modern, accenting only in the bedding and wall decals.
The triangle shelves were custom made by a shop on Etsy.com and it pairs perfectly with the walnut finish dresser from PB Teen. The Jurassic bedding and upholstered bed are from Pottery Barn Kids and the kitchen play set is from Ikea. The wall color is Artichoke from Sherwin Williams and, while it is warm and calming, it is also a nod to the dino theme.
We are all so happy with the update. Thanks for the inspo Project Nursery!!

Soft and Sophisticated Safari nursery

I had so much fun putting together this nursery for our first and only babe, Renley. The baby safari animals with floral crowns were the first piece we had for the room, and the paint and furniture was styled around this artwork. My style is very neutral and clean, and I wanted the nursery to blend with the rest of our home but with a more fun and girly vibe. We love the way her room turned out and it makes all the time we spend in there so much more enjoyable!

Fantastically Floral – A Modern Mural Room

Have you ever been drawn to a design that speaks to you a whole new level, only to turn over the price tag and feel the sudden urge to back away slowly? Maybe I’m not the only one who struggles with sticker shock when it comes to designing a new space. One such element that has been haunting my dreams is the floral wallpaper trend. I’m in love with a soft watercolor floral, maybe owing to the fact that I’m an artist and illustrator by trade. So when my three kids outgrew the one room they were all sharing, we decided to clear out the playroom and transform it into a feminine floral space that could grow with my girls as they got older.
I knew I wanted to base the room around the floral wallpaper but couldn’t bring myself to cough up the dough. So I decided to DIY it instead. I pulled multiple inspirations from online, picked an overall color scheme, and went from there. One thing that was fun about DIY is that I could customize this mural as much as I wanted, including the addition of metallics into some of the floral accents. In the evening sun, it hits the golds just right and shines beautifully!
I began with a light underlying pencil sketch and then moved around the wall using one paint color at a time spacing out the colors randomly. It’s also helpful to note that taking a step back once in a while to view the space will help you determine where there is a color lacking.
Once the painting was finished, I moved on to the other room elements, including two large custom beds, that would be placed near the mural. I opted for white cube storage to help keep the weight of the room balanced and airy. I kept the accents soft in color and played off of the colors in the painting, I opted for heavily textured throws and pillows to add a visual dimension as well as bringing an inviting feel to the room. The larger furniture was kept in neutral tones so they could easily be adapted to other styles as my girls’ taste change.

Joyful Colors in Baby Nursery

For the our second baby’s nursery we didn’t want to stick to a strict theme. Instead, I just wanted the room to be colorful and happy. Using the Rainbow Wallpaper from Project Nursery as my inspiration, I added pieces throughout the room to play off the colors.
To help tie in our crib, which is a hand me down from our first daughter, I tried to tie in the natural wood and gray via the name sign on the wall and mirror above the changing table. We also just had to pull in our handmade Star Wars mobile that we used for our first daughter!
Overall, we are thrilled with how it turned out and can’t wait to watch out little grow into the space.
