To guest room or not, that is the question! For many of you space is a challenge and adding a baby to the family can often mean losing the coveted guest room. Project Nursery reader Stephanie had another idea for her guest room. She chose to make the room a combo nursery for her daughter Nora and a working guest room. When the room is needed for guests, baby Nora bunks up with mom and dad and guests enjoy a lovely custom bed which matches the nursery’s dark pink, brown and tan color scheme. Here is how Stephanie created this bold and contemporary room for Nora and her fans who come to visit.

I LOVE that shadowbox art! I think I may copy it and do some little trains for my son’s room. What an inspiring idea. Thanks and great job!

LOVE this! Dark pink is my favourite colour and it looks so sophisticated and dramatic with the brown.
Love the shadowbox butterflies too! I would love to create something like that with some die-cut birds I found on etsy. Thanks for the inspiration!

Sorry it’s taken me so long to respond to the above questions.
First – the paint colors are from Sherwin Williams and are Canvas Tan and Khaki Shade.
And secondly – the bedding I actually got at Marshall’s (similar to TJ Max). I also had a terrible time finding bedding I liked that was contemporary-ish and not a fortune. I believe the brand was something like Kids Line.

Thanks for the response! I also wanted to ask if you have liked your rocker from Babies R us and if the material is holding up well. I saw it in person at the store and the material looked really worn where you sit and put your feet, but it could be because so many people sit in it at the store. Let me know if you get the chance. Thanks!

Kim – in response to your question about our rocker.
Yes – we do like it a lot. It’s quite comforable and we’ve had no trouble with the material holding up (so far that is – Nora is only 7 weeks old now). However, I will say, that it doesn’t have the best back support so we’ve had to use a pillow to give me a little more support. In the store, pre-baby, it was so comfy and really is a great lounging chair; however, when you spend a ton of time in it feeding it just isn’t the most supportive.
