A Bumble Bee Nursery

Description

My husband and I are anxiously awaiting our foster care license. I have created this nursery in preparation for 3-month-old infants through 5-year-olds. I tried to create something that would be appropriate for both boys and girls and a wide range of ages. Hopefully a little one will be using it soon!

Design Inspiration

I found the bedding and went from there. The room was already blue and I didn't really want to change it, plus it's kind of a gender neutral color.

Decorating Style

I am a do-it-yourselfer. I like simple and comfortable.

Project Details

I hand-painted the images on the walls with inspiration from the bedding. The little tree is located behind the door to the room. I plan on using it as a growth chart/scrapbook to document the children who come and stay with us.  Every time we look at it we will be reminded of all the memories in the room.

Favorite Items

I love the dresser/changing table combo...great for storage and a space saver. I need as much space as I can get since we need to put a twin bed and a crib in the room to be prepared for a wide age range.

I plan on using the window frame as a picture frame for photos of the children's birth parents.

Advice

Get inspiration for your rooms by looking through magazines and searching the web. I looked around a lot before starting.

Did you have a stencil you used for the wall paintings? I am doing my baby nursery in the bumble bee theme. I actually have the exact same bedding as you! I am now looking for wall decor for the nursery. Please Help!

Thanks everyone for your comments. Unfortunately, I painted the room about 5 years ago, so I don't remember if it had a name....it's sort of a grayish-blue color.

I think it's very wonderful of you and your husband to be very willing and eager to foster care. Kudos to that! And it's really nice of you to prepare a room that's gender neutral and that's appropriate for kids aged 3 months to 5 years. You did a great job setting up this room.
