Bookcase with decorative panels

I can never be too organized. The bunking of my two boys together into one room and the unfolding of a new nursery has created the need for creative storage. Over the last few weeks, we have taken on some closet transformations that I will be sharing over my next few posts. Oh sure, I could have hired a company to come in and give my standard builder closets an overhaul, but how much fun would that be? No fun at all! So off I went to one of my DIY sanctuaries, The Home Depot. Here is what I found...a fabulous and affordable 9-cube storage unit by Martha Stewart. Then I opted for four of these aqua fabric bins also by Martha Stewart at Home Depot. So after making my purchases, I rushed home to assemble my find. Then, on a random trip to Target, I happened to come across this little gem! A-ha! I had an idea.... Now, the hope was that the two would stack on top of each other, and to my excitement, they did! Score! Well, if that wasn't enough fun, here is where extraordinary enters the room. Both pieces came with the standard back panel in white, and since my closet doors are removed and these pieces were going to be showing, I needed to kick it up a notch. So I added a mix of patterned papers and fabric for a colorful custom touch. Here is what we ended up with. Here is the …

It's been a week since we returned from the ABC Kids Expo, but we are all still buzzing about the amazing products previewed at the show. We are almost done wrapping up our coverage, but before we do, we have a couple more fabulous finds we are excited to share with our readers. The morning of our second day, we had the opportunity to spend a little time with Mary Bauer of Bratt Décor. As expected, their glamorous line dazzled us by bringing style and glamor to a new level. We were able to get an up close and personal view of the fan favorite Venetian Crib, which has been spotted several times in the Project Nursery Gallery. This heirloom quality crib is the newest addition to the Bratt Decor family; it adapts from baby bassinet to full size crib! Next up was New Arrivals. We immediately fell in love with their newly released bedding collection, which Andrika posted about a few weeks ago, and their wall décor. Their new line of wall décor takes the traditional wall letter and dresses them up with a designer flare. Needless to say, their bedding line did not disappoint. The Indigo Summer bedding line has an ethic influence, and the mix of bold and muted colors made for the perfect combination. The Picket Fence collection also caught our eye. It has a soft, feminine touch, but the gray and blue color scheme make this line perfect for a gender neutral room. As we made …

Newsprint

It's no secret the lovely ladies of Layla Grayce hold a special place in our hearts, and we mean this both professionally and personally. Three years have flown by, and our original sponsors have now become our friends, which is why we are genuinely thrilled for Layla Grayce co-founder Tiffany Harris and the impending arrival of her twins. Talented event planner Sarah Westbrook and Layla Grayce co-founding partner Wendy Estes (coincidentally, another mom of twins!) came together earlier this month to throw one incredible baby shower bash. Longtime friends, Wendy and Tiffany have a certain charm and sophistication, so it's no surprise that the twins' fête was ALL Layla Grayce! The celebration took place at a friend's breathtaking Pasadena, CA estate. And all the gorgeous photos you are about to enjoy were beautifully captured by photographer Tara Rochelle. The shower's theme boasted vintage newspaper print and incorporated neutral hues, natural textures and, of course, classic black and white. The casual-elegant feel was created with online shop favorites such as these Aidan Gray decorative pillows scattered along a rustic bench juxtaposed with Eloquence gold-trimmed chairs. A galvanized side table by Aidan Gray topped with the Grenich Urn table lamp also gave this vintage-inspired shower a modern edge. Clever details such as name tags applied with decorative tape, garlands flourishing from newspaper print, a bistro-style lunch menu and a newspaper crossword activity completed the theme. Lunch was served, and beautifully displayed, buffet style. Flowers of choice? Simple white hydrangeas wrapped in newspaper and tied in jute string nestled into numbered crates from Gabby. The lovely dessert table showcased …

Mural

There are some design elements that always seem to lend a certain something special and add dimension when included in a child's room. Here are some of my favorite design details that never fail to take a special room to the next level and make it magnificent. Window seats in a nursery or child's room are always fabulous. I adore them in a little girl's room like this one, filled with an array of pillows and fun fabrics. The seat draws attention to the window treatments and makes an ordinarily dead space interesting while giving the room more depth. Image from Traditional Home Adding a canopy over a child's bed or crib creates a dramatic effect without a lot of fuss. The designer in this space used the canopy as the total solution for decorating the space. This one element carries the entire room. Image from Architectural Digest Deciding how to decorate the walls of a room often sets the tone of the space. Murals are one of my go-to staples to complete the look of a nursery or child's room. Not only do they lend interest, but they also give the room a one-of-a-kind flare. Whether you pick something daring like this room or a more simple design in a small area, the mural is always a welcome touch. Image from House Beautiful

Personalized Keepsake

The modern artwork from Piecemaker Studio is sharp and eye-catching. We especially love their personalized pieces. Something feels just a little extra special when it has your child's name on it, especially when you know it was custom-made for him or her. The mix of typography and colors in the artwork provides a high-contrast effect, which is perfect for your little one's developing eyesight. All pieces are printed on high-quality cotton canvas and then gallery wrapped. They are all ready to hang, with no additional framing required. They are also lightweight, and because there is no breakable glass, they are the perfect accent to any child's room. With many of the pieces featuring a strong focus on numbers or the alphabet, the artwork will grow with your child and can easily transition from a nursery to a toddler room. Be sure to check out Piecemaker Studio's shop because they have plenty more options to choose from. You may just find the perfect piece to adorn your child's walls. WIN IT! One lucky Project Nursery reader will win any one item of their choice from Piecemaker Studio's Shop. A $65 value! To enter, visit Piecemaker Studio and share with us your favorite piece.
