My son recently turned five, and for the past couple of years, he’s requested party themes that all have one thing in common—wheels! He has been obsessed with cars of every kind. You can imagine my surprise and delight this year when he requested a birthday theme in the opposite direction—SHARKS!
Below are some images and inspiration for you from the shark party I designed for him so that you can get inspired to throw a shark party of your own.
First up, the invitation! I designed these shark party invites with his name customized to fit inside a shark image! I love how the color scheme of navy, chartreuse, aqua and gray really pop on the invite. You’ll see my use of these colors throughout the party!
I also designed this cake table backdrop featuring shark letters and a surfboard with a shark bite out of it.
How cool is this giant shark cake topper? This cake topper was made and designed by Les Pop Sweets, and it’s made out of fondant!
Les Pop Sweets also made these adorable surfboard, lifesaver, shark fin and No. 5 cupcake toppers in matching party colors. The ocean wave print cupcake wrappers also complete the look!
I love how the party tables turned out! I used navy tablecloths and draped blue fish net over top for a nautical look. I then layered different sized plates in matching party colors from Oh Happy Day Shop. Table centerpieces included “Beach closed due to shark sighting” printable tabletop signs.
I also designed these shark face silhouettes and cut them out with my cutting machine on vinyl and added them on top of my party plates to complete the party table look!
On the food buffet table, I created a tabletop sign with a shark that read “Let’s Have a Bite.” One thing that all the kids LOVED was a shark that they got to stick their hand into that held a bowl of goldfish! It was actually quite simple—I used a rubber shark mask and slid it over top of a kitchen mixing bowl!
I also designed this shark welcome sign that featured Maverick’s name inside the shark!
Let’s talk party favors! I found this adorable shark happy birthday banner on etsy, and then designed my own party favor sign that said “Take a Party Favor, Chum.” Maverick’s party favors were below, and the kids went crazy for them! Everyone went home with a brand new stuffed shark of his/her own.
Finally, I designed matching party favor tags that could be tied onto each shark, thanking guests for attending the party!.
I hope these photos have inspired you to have a jaw-some fin-tastic shark party of your very own!

I bought a shark mask to use over a bowl like you have pictured. Mine collapses. It will not stay standing up Over the bowl. How did you get it to stay?

Hi Diana, I’m not sure where Emily purchased them. But there are plenty of small stuffed sharks on Amazon (affiliate link). Good luck in your search!
