Trips to the beach or the pool don’t need to fall by the wayside now that you’re a parent. Baby can join in on the summer fun with just a few extras stashed in your trunk.
Bathing Suit. Of course, baby needs his or her own beachwear. There is no shortage of cute baby bathing suits, so have fun picking out your favorite. If you are spending the whole day at the beach, consider a rashguard for more coverage.

Hooded Towel. Whether on the beach or poolside, a hooded towel is a must for baby. It’ll help your baby warm up quicker, keep the towel from slipping off and look absolutely adorable.

Sun Hat. Keep baby’s delicate skin shaded with a sun hat. Personally, I think sun hats for babies absolutely must have a chin strap. You want that hat to stay put whether you are battling the breeze or your baby’s own insistence at taking the hat off. Look for one with a wide brim to get better coverage.

Sunscreen. Check with your pediatrician on when your baby is old enough to use sunscreen. After that, be sure you do your research and find a brand that you trust.
Shade. Even with sunscreen and sun hats, you’ll want to create some sort of shade for your baby with a beach umbrella or beach tent. If you plan to let baby catch a nap on the beach, it’s a great way to keep her cooler and protected.
Toys. If your baby is old enough, a few sand toys are fun at the beach and will hopefully keep the sand in the buckets and not in his mouth.
Baby Sunglasses. My babies hated having the sun in their eyes. Protect your babies eyes with sunglasses just their size.
Swim Diapers. Don’t make the mistake of using regular disposable diapers if your baby is going anywhere near the water. Your baby will end up wearing a gigantic, heavy diaper. Get disposable swim diapers that won’t swell in the water or use a reusable swim diaper.
