Party Reveal: Nautical Regatta Dessert Table

Big, highly decorated parties are tons of fun, but sometimes your party needs are a little more low-key. I love having inspiration at my fingertips for both. Just like in this Nautical Regatta-themed party by Tikkido. One or two props is all she used to telegraph her theme, and she only needed a few easy sugary details to complete this party. This laid-back nautical party is unique in that it steps outside the typical anchor-laden nautical party to create a by-the-sea feeling with sailboats, lighthouses and sea creatures.

To create her regatta atmosphere, Nikki, from Tikkido, found a great sailboat to serve as the centerpiece of the party. It’s impressive! A net and some sailor’s knot garlands were all the table needed to set the mood.

My favorite part of this whole party is the super cute oyster cookies. All that’s needed to make them is a few Nilla wafers, frosting, candy eyeballs and sixlets—an easy nautical/sea-themed treat any mom can make! You can see her tutorial here.

The sea-themed sugar cookies, made by Nikki herself, are also a nice touch at the party.

These Morse Code candy dot party favors are über creative. They’re made of piped royal icing, and all Nikki did to package them was use a cellophane bag and a folded piece of scrap paper for the top. It’s a really neat, really easy, really custom favor for a nautical party.

The table she had set to eat at was just as thoughtful as the dessert buffet. Nautical flag placemats (purchased at Ikea) over a navy ticking runner with a fleet of sailboats as a centerpiece is all the decor this casual event needed. She added a monogrammed rope chair tieback as a special detail for the guest of honor.

Lunch was pre-boxed to make serving easy on the hostess. This is a great tip to use for any children’s party; it’s less stress on all parents involved and helps the party flow.
