Party Reveal: Sock Monkey Baby Shower

When our friend Jami, of the Savvy Socialista, contacted us to design and style a baby shower, we decided to monkey around a little. The always-popular sock monkey theme turned out darling! If you are in need of a classic and fun theme for your next shower or party, this theme can be used for a boy or a girl!

We love to do DIY cakes; it’s a super affordable way to achieve a high-end custom look for less. Here we had our local supermarket make an 8″ double layer, plain iced cake. We covered the top of the cake with chocolate sprinkles, added a little printable cake sign and bunting and topped it with an adorable decorated cookie made specially for us by Casey’s Confections.

Casey also made these amazing sock monkey cookies per request to match. They’re almost too cute to eat, but we did, and they were delish! Decorated cookies make great party favors to send home with guests.

Cupcakes provided by Cakes by Cassie were dressed up with cupcake toppers that matched the theme. The bottom tier of our DIY cupcake stand was filled with monkey vines (twizzlers) and chocolate covered pretzels.

This party poster is a great way to add decor to the party, and it doubles as custom art for the nursery once the party is over. Simply frame, hang it up, and you have a memorable and personalized piece!

Chevron treat bags dressed with stickers were available so guests could take home cookies and candies.

Here is a quick, easy and inexpensive way to display your party utensils. We used an empty formula can, wrapped it with paper and ribbon, and in a few minutes, you’ll have a fun little piece to house your forks, knives and spoons!

Lastly, dress up water bottles with labels to match your party. This adds just a little bit of fun to boring water bottles and helps to tie the entire theme together!

I think a sock monkey theme is one of the safest and best gender neutral themes there is. Really love the cake.

I just love parties that are easy to plan and execute, and most of all, not stressful for busy mommies like me.

This theme and these ideas are fabulous. I hosted a baby shower for 40 people (couple’s shower) and used almost every idea. The party was fun and the couple enjoyed it. Only one problem, I ordered the cake topper and cookies 4 weeks ahead and they were shipped using USPS 2 day priority to arrive on SATURDAY (party on Sunday). They didn’t arrive in time for the party. At the last minute I had to make extra cupcakes and a paper topper for the cake. Grrr! I got a refund but had to pay return shipping to get it back. BEWARE! Next time I will look locally for a confection artist.
