Summer Entertaining: Pottery Barn Kids Style

I, along with my partner in crime, recently had the opportunity to partner with our local Pottery Barn Kids and share some fun and creative summer entertaining ideas. It gets pretty hot here is Phoenix, so while the weather was still tolerable, we focused on throwing a fabulous pool/beach-themed party.

The party goods were designed around two of PBK’s summer bedding collections: The North Shore Quilted Bedding for boys and The North Shore Quilted Bedding for girls.

We used the Chesapeake outdoor furniture to set  the “pool deck,” and tables were set with various items from their Tabletop Collection. We hung personalized cabana signs, one for the girls and one for the boys.

We created a budget-friendly snack bar—goldfish crackers labeled as “fish food,” mixed popcorn labeled as “coral reef” and iced animal crackers labled as “shark bait” for your little surfers to nosh on. Carry your theme into your beverage station and pour up some blue Gatorade or as we called it “ocean water.” Your little fishies will LOVE this!

We had Casey’s Confections make darling decorated sugar cookies to match—almost too cute to eat! Party Tip: spread crushed graham crackers in your serving trays to look like sand!

Add a favor tag and to make these the perfect take home treat!

Need another favor idea? Hand out things like travel tubes of sunscreen, sunglasses, beach towels or bubbles!

The talented Bonnie, of Inspired Occasions, provided the cupcakes that we decorated with crushed graham crackers to look like sand and blue icing with sugar crystals to mimic water, all topped with a fish printable.

We thought cakepops would also be a fun treat, and the shape reminded us of a beach ball. These oh-so-yummy and cute cakepops were made for us by Mind Over Batter.

Do you have a great kids party recipe or summer entertaining idea you want to share? Leave a comment!

Makes me want to hit the beach with the kids. Love the budget friendly snack bar and giving useful items like sunscreen and glasses for party favors is always appreciated.

Jasmine — I agree. Seeing the Ocean Water made me smile. It really looks like something that’s been scooped out from the Mediterranean Sea!

Frauline Melfi: Lol about the Mediterranean Sea comment. But you’re right. The Mediterranean Sea is so beautiful with its clean, bright blue waters. Reminds me of my dream destination: Santorini! Anyway, I love all the details here! The decor is so adorable.

Zen, Santorini is such a beautiful place! It’s the one where Mama Mia (the one with Meryl Streep) was set, right?

Yes, that’s correct. And aside from Mama Mia, there’s also Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Santorini Blue and Summer Lovers.
