Design Board: Ava’s New Room

When we received this Inspiration Board from Atlanta momprenuer Erika Ward we knew our readers would just love it! Like many of you, Erika’s daughter Ava was ready to graduate from the nursery to her “big girl” room. Erika was ready to get inspired. While out shopping, she found a bright pink dress at Gymboree and instantly knew that it was the perfect inspiration for Ava’s new room. The cheerful paisley pattern and metallic sandals were just the right blend of sweet and girly with that touch of modern glamour she envisioned. We can’t wait to see what Erika comes up with for Ava’s twin brother!

Please share a little bit about yourself.
I am a wife, mother, and designer. I’m passionate about how people live, what gives them comfort, and stirring up their creative genius. Believe it or not, everyone has at least an ounce of creativity. I have the heart of a teacher and love showing clients how to make their visions real. I continue to be inspired by how individuals express themselves through fashion and often correlate the two when designing for my clients. BluLabel Bungalow is the epitome of this creative process. I examine trends and patterns, fabrics and textures, inspiration can be found in any object you love. Allow me to help you discover your style–after all, your home should celebrate your individuality, not your designer’s.

What was your inspiration for this board?
Ava Grace is now 2 years old and has outgrown her little crib…yet, another reason to redecorate! Items chosen for her room will grow with her through her grade school and teenage years plus or minus a few accessories! I love the challenge of translating fashion into stylish and livable spaces. There’s a adorable inspiration outfit (from Gymboree) chosen for this design…

Wow, what a beautiful inspiration. I love how Erika has transformed the inspiration from the dress onto the look of the room. This is a room that will truly grow with Ava over the years.

I agree with Erika’s comment “your home should celebrate your individuality, not your designer’s” , somethng most people forget.
