Because I am really into all things natural these days, I wanted to create a wall hanging décor piece that uses only natural-colored wood. This piece would look great in a gender neutral nursery or even your living room.
In order to create this piece, you will need a few simple materials and will not need a lot of time. I think once I had all the materials I finished the piece in about 20 minutes.
MATERIALS: Wooden circles measuring 1 inch, white cotton twine, 6 mm wooden beads, and a 16″ long wooden dowel.
Once you have all materials in hand, watch the video tutorial below or read the instructions to see how we created this fun décor piece.
STEP 1
Drill a small hole on each wooden circle. I used seven circles per strand. So you will need a total of thirty-five circles to achieve this same look.
STEP 2
Grab a strand of cotton twine. Tie a double knot at the end of the cotton twine and weave one of the wooden beads in it. It is important that the bead stays in place. Make sure the bead doesn’t slide over the knots because the beads will hold the wooden circles in place. You can make the knot thicker if needed by tying more. Once the bead is secured, weave one of the wooden circles in the cotton twine.
STEP 3
Give about 1.5″ of space and tie another double knot on the twine feeding in the next bead and wooden circle. Repeat this step until you have seven of these on one strand.
STEP 4
Once you have one strand completed, put it aside and repeat the previous steps until you complete four more strands. You can be picky and make each strand look exactly the same, or you have the option of having it vary a little.
STEP 5
Once all strands are completed, tie each one of them to the wooden dowel rod.
STEP 6
Weave all five strands through one wooden bead to finish the look. And then, the piece is ready to be hung. Be sure to keep out of your child’s reach.
