It’s that time again! I’ve finished another nursery design, and I’m so excited to share it with you all. I was so thrilled to begin work on this baby boy’s modern and whimsical nursery design with a fabulous client in Los Angeles, California. The goal was to create a warm and inviting space that was a little on the modern side with animal accents. My client also wanted a mural on the ceiling to add a touch of whimsy to the space.
We started with the furniture. She already had a lovely built-in window seat in a warm wood tone, so we wanted to pull in furniture to mirror that vibe. Finding pieces that were safe and non-toxic was also very important to her, so we went with the Newport Cottages Devon Crib and Dresser in a rich stain. We also chose the Dutailier Classico Recliner for its sleek look, eco-friendly materials and motorized reclining mechanism. Since we were already working in some animal-themed items, we went with the Oilo Studio Cobblestone Crib Bedding to add a subtle safari feel.

On the opposite wall is the client’s own framed tapestry, which we used as the inspiration for the color scheme of the entire space. Organization was also very important to her, so we chose a great diaper caddy for the changing table.

This upward shot shows the full glory of the amazing ceiling mural by Allyson Jones Wong—she is truly inspired! The design pulls in all of our blue tones and adds a true sense of whimsy to the space.
Every little detail was important in this space, even down to the matching diaper bag from PacaPod. We wanted the nursery to feel very well-rounded, including the accessories. We even chose a modern baby bouncer from Babyhome that coordinates with the space.
And here’s a little behind-the-scenes shot of me setting up the crib mattress (and before the bedding was steamed!). We wanted this nursery to be as toxin-free as possible, so it was essential to go with an organic crib mattress, like this one from Naturalmat.
All in all, the nursery is inviting and serene, but it’s still friendly and whimsical. I hope you love it just as much as I do!

In love with the wall art, where is it from??

Hi Vicki,
The art above the crib is from http://www.theanimalprintshop.com. The art above the changing table was a tapestry that belonged to my client that she bought while traveling.
Thank you!
