A Neutral Nursery as Soft as Clouds

We’ve been hard at work this year with a lot of nursery designs! One thing that many of our clients have in common is a desire for neutral spaces. This nursery below is fully neutral—but it didn’t used to be! We designed this same nursery originally with pinks and blues and a gorgeous floral wall mural for this baby’s older sister. But when the client was having her second baby, she moved her daughter to another room and wanted to redo the nursery in all neutrals.

We kept the white glider, ottoman, bench and mobile, and added everything else. The first thing to change was the wall mural. We went with a pretty gray cloud mural to give the space that neutrality and whimsy. Next, we needed a crib. The client wanted something modern, and that gold base really adds sophistication to the design!

This room has an interesting floor plan, so it allowed us to place the crib in this little niche area, giving it the perfect background for wallpaper. The cloud pattern works really well behind the white crib, and the gold mobile stands out against it. We added new neutral blackout curtains as well (but kept the original hardware).

Over on the other side of the room, we added a modern gray dresser to go with the white glider, gold mirror and wall shelves that stayed from the previous design. We added a nice big gray side table, new artwork, and a new floor lamp to tie it all together.

We also switched out the large rug. In the original design, it was a pink medallion rug. So for the new neutral design, we chose a soft gray and sage green rug. This neutral cloud nursery is a real stunner in person and super soft!

It was so fun to be able to work on the same room twice! Everything that we took out of this room was moved with the first child into her new room, so we were able to reuse almost everything.
