Gigi’s Purple and Gray Room Reveal

When I promised my daughter Gigi that she could have her own room, I pulled in the expert advice of our friends at Serena & Lily, and they stepped up to help Gigi and me with our design plans. Together, we created the perfect “big girl” room makeover.

Purple and gray big girl room

Gigi really wanted her room to feature her favorite color purple and to include a desk for homework. I was looking forward to showcasing her beautiful artwork on the fresh new walls.

Together, we pinned our very favorite items, including many from Serena & Lily, and the room started to look like a real big girl room. Serena and her team jumped in and added some extra love because even though I look at design all day long, it was nice to have a little help pulling the details together.

We mixed Gigi’s artwork with other framed bright prints on the art wall. Serena suggested their new plum wide stripe wallpaper for the space, and I decided that installing the paper on the ceiling would be more dramatic. The horizontal stripes added an unexpected punch. After that, the last few elements fell into place.

All of the pieces we selected were beautiful yet very practical. The big storage baskets are great for tucking away all of Gigi’s toys and books, and the soft flokati rug gives her plenty of room for comfy floor time play with her dolls. The one piece in the room that we added just for the pure fun of it was the hanging rattan swing. It’s a fun spot for Gigi to curl up with a good book, and what kid wouldn’t want a swing in their room!

Gigi and I want to extend a huge thank you to Serena & Lily. The collaboration was so much fun, and we both couldn’t be happier with how the new big girl room turned out. It has a sophisticated yet fun vibe with loads of personal touches.
