Over here on the east coast, we’re excitedly welcoming spring and the pending promise of summer sunshine after a long winter. Can you blame us for being a little giddy over all things yellow? Pantone identified Lemon Zest as one of the spring 2013 colors, and we couldn’t agree more. As fashion designer Ella Moss says, the bright sunshine tone is both optimistic and playful—what could be better for spring?
Here are a few of our favorite yellow pieces to bring the sunshine inside. Dwell Studio’s Zig Zag Yellow Rug brings bright tones, warmth and a sense of fun to any room.
From the modern to the ornate, we love this Vintage Upcycled Mirror; it would enliven any room in which it’s placed.
Even something as small as the addition of a throw pillow will brighten up a space with its vibrant color. This throw pillow from Room Service LA is whimsical and fun and perfect for that little pop of color.
From the minimal gestures to the bold ones, we love this appropriately named Pretty Web Sunshine Ground wallpaper from Spoonflower. One wall of this (or perhaps a ceiling covered in this) would create a fun point of departure for any space.
We would be remiss if we didn’t include a fun yellow light that both brightens the room with its form and its function. What could be more fun than Angelpoise’s Giant Yellow Floor Lamp? Originally commissioned for the Roald Dahl Museum, it’s often nicknamed after one of our favorite books by the author—The BFG.
We hope you have fun bringing the sunshine into your home.

Yellow is such a happy color!

I agree. It’s happier than red. Maybe because yellow is the sun’s color, and it reminds us of cheerful sunny days.

Wow, that giant yellow floor lamp is adorable! I would even say cute despite its size!
