Design Reveal: Bold and Bright Nursery

To welcome spring with some bright and cheerful colors, I’d like to share a nursery design completed a few months ago. This client already had a little boy, so she was more than excited to bring some pink into her life. She already had some lovely Newport Cottages furniture from her previous child, and since the pieces wore so well (they are bench-made heirloom quality), we wanted to make sure we incorporated the white with navy accent into the design.

So what was our inspiration? It began with the bedding, which she purchased the week that she found out that she was having a girl—a fuchsia and apple green damask set she found online. Next we found a wonderful, striped rug from Dash and Albert, which brought together all the colors. She already had the green cottage glider from Little Castle, so this rug tied the whole room together.

To break up the boxy look of the room, we added a custom bookshelf and window seat and personalized it with colorful pillows and a beautiful Osborne & Little peacock wallpaper behind the bookcase.

Since this is a new home for the family, we knew that they would not be moving anytime soon and kept that in mind when designing the room. This will be her daughter’s room for many years so the design and colors chosen were meant to take her into her toddler and child years with little change.

To see more detailed photos and additional information on pieces used, please check out the room in the gallery.

That wallpaper behind the bookshelves is gorgeous. I almost feel bad that they’re always partially covered by whatever items are placed on the shelf.

It’s a small space, but that wasn’t a limitation. That’s what makes this room extra special.
