Design Reveal: A Patriotic Boy’s Room

My latest design reveal is for an eight-year-old boy who was in dire need of a quiet space in the house to get his homework done and have some alone “boy time.”

The room is relatively small and narrow, so we had to get creative with furniture placement and added a custom bench for extra seating and storage as well as custom book shelves.

He already had the painted bunk beds, so we picked a timeless striped wallpaper and star fabric for the window treatments to complement the colors. The red, white and blue colors of the room give it an “All-American” vibe. Since the family lives a few blocks from the ocean, we pulled elements of the sea in with the captain’s mirror and needlepoint pillows.

I personally don’t like it when all the furniture in a room is painted, so we added some stained pieces for contrast and visual interest. The desk is a modified design by duc duc and the rug is from Dash & Albert. The bedding and pillows were custom made for the room.

The bunk bed is a beauty! And the captain’s mirror, too!
