Silver and Gold Make Any Nursery Sparkle

The trend of using metallic colors in a nursery is so hot right now.  Metallics make for an elegant statement while also adding a warmth and sophistication not found in other colors.

What I love about both gold and silver as a palette is they are perfect for gender neutral spaces like this one I found on DIY Network. The gold against the green is so soft and regal and is perfect for boy or girl.  Benjamin Moore has metallic paints that are perfect accents to use on small areas of a room like trim, a door or a shelf.

Using a metallic crib, like this one, is extremely dramatic and works for a great backdrop for a wide array of bedding.

The  Chelsea crib from Bratt Decor is perfect in silver.

Silver and gold fabrics also add a very rich accent to the nursery.  I adore this chair from Angel Song seen here in Mario Lopez’s nursery.

Metallic accents, like this chandelier are a great way to add drama and elegance to any nursery. Lamps, mirrors, picture frames are all fabulous additions in gold or silver.

Tell us what you think of the metallic trend, timeless or short lived?

I think it will be short lived because they are a bit brassy and face it people like wood tones. To much glitz is too much. For kids I think the new thing are Kids rooms stickers or vinyl wall decor. They are easily moved around, less messy then paint.

Hi Kidswalls: I would agree with you, but you have to admit that these colors make lovely accents into any room. Sometimes a little glitz is what you need to make the room perfect.

Timeless! Metallics are actually neutral. Just like fashion, interior design can either follow trends or can incorporate a touch of them to make a personal statement about who you are! Making a personal statement lends itself to a “look” which lends itself to becoming a classic.

Timeless…especially if used in moderation. They make the nurseries regal, fit for a prince or princess :)

I think that another advantage of using gold and silver and other metallic colors is that these are easily coordinated with other colors you use for your nursery. They are basically great accent colors. Also, I have to tell you that the ideas you presented here are really top ones, and you could really use it easily if you want to update or upgrade your room.

Metallic hues, in my opinion, adds a classical touch to any room.
