Every since I saw this room designed by Melissa Warner of Massucco Warner Miller in Traditional Home magazine last month I have been thinking about how to incorporate silhouettes into children’s room design. I’m not talking your traditional black & white silhouette, I was thinking about something more modern and off-beat. Similar to the idea of using the image on a pillow as Melissa did below.
Well it was as if someone was reading my mind, but I was contacted by Jessa from Jessa ZG about taking a look at some of her artwork. After browsing through her website I was very impressed with her unique take on silhouettes and converting them to modern and pop artwork influenced prints. Her designs use bold colors, imaginative designs and creative type. Even better the prices on the 12″x12″ prints were very reasonable (only $40) and she also offers basic framing services starting at $60 for the print and frame.
Some of my favorite designs are below:
Her years of experience as an educator, nanny and illustrator have enabled Jessa to find a niche in the children’s artwork market where she takes personalization to the next artistic level. After looking though her designs I had to have one. I chose the Life is Beachy design below. Since we live and my son was born in Manhattan Beach, I thought the beachy design was playful and would look great in our hallway.
You can even do a series of the whole family, a fun gift for mother’s or father’s day..
Make sure to check back on her site Jessa ZG frequently as she adds new designs weekly. And don’t forget to take a look at her fun prints and nostalgia stationary. Enjoy!

I love these silhouettes! How cool! My Mom had one done of me as a child, and i still have it framed….it’s really neat. If I have a little girl I plan on putting it in her room someday. But I love the beach one you chose, wish I lived in a beach town to pick that one for my little boy! thanks for sharing.

Dear Jessa,
Very clever. I tour nationally cutting traditional silhouettes. I always love seeing new and inovative allplications of this cherished art form. Well done!
