Black Bean Banana Mash, Stage Two Baby Food Recipe

Black Bean Banana Mash is one of the most versatile baby food purees. Not only is it a no-cook puree that can be prepared in under two minutes, but it is also protein-packed, perfect for on-the-go meals and super easy to prepare when traveling away from home. Black Bean Banana Mash also makes a great dip or spread for toddlers and big kids—serve with some toasted pita bread or baked tortilla chips for a yummy after school snack!

This Stage Two baby food recipe is suitable for babies 7-9 months and up. Always make sure the consistency of your baby’s food is one she can handle. Before combining foods, make sure your baby has tried each one individually first with no reaction to it.

Black Bean Banana Mash Baby Food Recipe

Black Bean Banana Mash
(makes 8 oz.)
Note: Use organic ingredients whenever possible.
1 large ripe banana
1 can of black beans—rinsed well in a strainer under cold running water (I prefer to use pre-cooked black beans to save time. Choose a brand that uses BPA-free cans. I like Eden Organic.)
water, breast milk or formula

Place banana and black beans into a blender or food processor. Add about 3 tablespoons of water, breast milk or formula to help develop a smooth consistency while blending. Pulse until smooth.

Black Bean Banana Mash can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days in the refrigerator and up to three months in the freezer.

Enjoy!
