Description
I was looking to do a boys room without the typical 'boys toys' something relaxing and something to create imagination. I had a strict budget so lots of sewing and DIY was involved.
Design Inspiration
I loved the idea of "Up Up and Away" Dr Seuss and after looking at a few rooms with that theme I came up with my own touch.
Decorating Style
Modern, DIY
Project Details
Rug: Overstock
Letter 'T' Monogram: Made from Styrofoam local company.
DIY Pinwheels, change mat, curtains, bassinet skirt and bedding.
DIY Hot Air Balloons: Tutorial
DIY Clock: Tutorial
Dresser: IKEA
Rocking Chair: Seconds shop and reupholstered myself. (Australia doesn't have a large rocking chair range so finding something that works with the room is difficult)
The Crib was my husband's crib and was used with our first baby so only fitting to use for Theodore's also.
Favorite Items
Too many, I love the clock and balloon pendant light and how they match with the bedding and pinwheels.
Love the 'T' out of styrofoam! So easy and light to hang and a budget saving from a wooden monogram.
Advice
Have your own cork board with all your 'pins' printed and pinned on it. Helped me decide what I loved and got over looking at.
The board also helped me keep and eye out for bargains. You have 9 months to plan the room so be patient and wait from the items you love to come on sale!
