Sweet Floral Nursery

Description

This client loved all things girly for her new baby girl and so I was ready to deliver! The bedding was custom made by a local seamstress and included all of her favorite colors of pink, white and yellow and showcased various fun textures to appeal to the keen sense of touch that a baby has from birth. I then took that yellow and pink and painted the walls and subsequently added some big pink pansies around the room. The comfy yellow nursery glider and the beautiful nursery chandelier added more touches of pink and yellow to the room while providing the comforts and elegance every nursery needs. I topped it all off with a custom made hand painted Sherri Blum wall hanging and a custom Sherri Blum Sweet Pea embroidered pillow.

Design Inspiration

Client loved flowers!

Decorating Style

I combine my design experience with the client's individual style and taste to come up with a unique room that reflects the client's dreams for the space.

Project Details

I love painting and I love pink...therefore this nursery mural was lots of fun for me. In order to move along more quickly, I made my own stencil for the flowers to keep the size and shape consistent as I moved around the perimeter of the room. Then I painted varying accents and highlights on each flower to keep it from being too uniform.

Favorite Items

The pansies on the walls and the bedding.  The variation in textures used in the patchwork is so nice for baby to touch!

Advice

We saved money on the window treatments by ordering them from Pottery Barn rather than having them custom made like the bedding.

I think this room is absolutely beautiful. I just found out that My husband and I are having a little girl, and we want her bedroom to have pink and yellow in it as well.

Thank you, Ken! I purchased the letters from a local craft store and used a staple gun to attach the ribbons to the back of each letter. Then I used drawer pulls screwed into the wall for hanging each letter. You have to replace the screw with a double threaded one that can easily be found at a home improvement center in the hardware aisle.  Pink and yellow are my favorite colors...they're cheerful and sweet....reminds me of my own childhood bedroom, which is why this room is such a favorite of mine!

I've always have a special space for pastels, and I love how you used it here.  I love the combination of pink and yellow!  Where did you get the lettering... great idea using ribbons to hang it up.
