My daughter's first birthday party was very special event for us. Even though she might not remember her first birthday events in the longer run but I wanted to make it a beautiful memory for the whole family.
When I started thinking about themes, all those 'girlie' themes started flying in through imagination. Finally, I chose- Rainbow Theme, and that fitted very well. The arrival of our daughter has brought so many colors into our family, and I could not think of any better theme than a rainbow first birthday party.
I wanted to keep the ambiance of party within a Rainbow theme but not to lose the strings that venue starts looking like a 'candy shop' :)
Most of the decorations were DIY projects inspired by my search through blogs, pinterest etc. Best part of DIY projects is that we can add our own imagination to it, and make it JUST like we envision it.
Rainbow Butterfly Cake: Denver Designer Cakes I gave the vision to Jennifer, and she made it exactly as I wanted. I was so happy with the cake.
Birthday Cake Flag Topper: DIY Project
Rainbow Table Centerpiece: DIY Project
Rainbow Pom-Poms: EBay
Rainbow Garlands: DIY Project (I made cutouts of Cardstock paper and stitched them)
Rainbow Mobile: DIY Project
Rainbow and Cloud: DIY Project (Created Rainbow with Tulle fabric and Cloud was made from hard cardboard)
Thumbprint Tree: Partly a DIY Project: I created the background scene of the picture before the party, which included- Tree with naked branches, sticker Bird, sticker Sun, and sticker fence etc. During the party all the kids gave their thumbprint/s making leaves of the tree. Picture frame was from Michael's.
I love everything about this party but the Thumbprint Tree is my favorite part, it is an adorable souvenir hanging in Ayana's room now.
There is SO MUCH we can do if we run our imaginations, it can start merely from typing a few words on 'Google' or asking a friend or looking for ideas all around us.
