Sebastian's big boy room is bright and fun, much like the little man himself. We live in a loft, and his bedroom gets almost no natural light, so every design decision centered around creating a bright and happy space for him to play and sleep. He loves trains, trucks and cars, so there is a subtle transportation theme going on with out it screaming, "LOOK AT ALL THE TRUCKS!"
Sebastian's room was inspired by all the things he loves - trains, trucks, planes, colors, numbers and letters. The colorful striped rug was one of the first things we brought into the room, and it provided the color palette for the rest of the space.
Global, midcentury and a smidge industrial, although this room is definitely more a combo of the latter two.

Additional project details and tutorials:
My favorite thing in the room is the original artwork by my little dude. The frame it's in can store 50 pieces of artwork, so every time Sebastian brings a new painting home from art class, we lift the easy-open front to add his latest masterpiece. He also gets a kick out of seeing his creations on display at his eye level.
Try to incorporate things that your little one really loves and tailor it to suit them - hang pictures at their eye level, organize toys so that they're easily accessible, and invite your child to help with design decisions (within reason!) - and you're bound to create a space that they'll really enjoy.
